Job Overview 

Are you ready to play a crucial role in creating safe, high-quality highways, private roadways, parking lots, and driveways? As a Shuttle Buggy Asphalt Crew Member, you’ll operate advanced Asphalt Material Transfer Machines and work alongside an experienced team to deliver exceptional results. If you’re motivated, reliable, and eager to grow your skills, we invite you to help shape the infrastructure of our communities. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Operate the Asphalt Material Transfer Machine (Shuttle Buggy) to apply asphalt according to detailed plans and quality standards, ensuring daily schedules and project estimates are met. 

  • Assist with additional crew tasks as needed, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork. 

  • Maintain a safe work environment by following all company policies and OSHA regulations. 

  • Demonstrate professional conduct with co-workers, customers, and the public at all times. 

  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment, including oiling, greasing, and basic adjustments. 

  • Show initiative to learn and operate various equipment commonly used on asphalt crews. 

  • Adapt to changing schedules, locations, and shifts; overtime and out-of-town assignments may be required. 

  • Follow instructions from Traffic Control Crew and adhere to company safety and PPE policies. 

  • Travel to and from job sites; if operating a company vehicle, meet APAC Driver Qualification Standards. 

 

What We’re Looking For 

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required. 

  • Experience operating Asphalt Material Transfer Machines or a willingness to learn with an emphasis on quality and attention to detail. 

  • Ability to guide machines and work closely with dump truck drivers during asphalt application. 

  • Strong attendance record and commitment to supporting crew efficiency. 

  • Flexible attitude and readiness to take on new challenges as assigned. 

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Frequently required to climb, balance, and perform tasks involving physical agility.
  • Regularly sit, climb, and use hand signals or equipment; occasionally stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, or reach above shoulder height.
  • Lift and move objects weighing up to 25-50 lbs as needed.
  • Work primarily outdoors, often in extreme weather and environmental conditions.
  • Comfortable working in all weather conditions; exposed to jobsite hazards such as moving machinery, high places, airborne particles, and loud environments.
  • Must have specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, to operate equipment safely.
  • Reasonable accommodations provided as necessary to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
