  • $135,000 - $145,000 base salary range + annual bonus potential!
  • 100% remote in the United States, however, due to state-specific regulatory requirements, Potbelly does not currently support remote work from the following states: Alaska, California, and Hawaii. Who you are:
You are a highly analytical and curious finance leader who thrives in fast-paced, data-rich environments. You bring a strong track record of partnering with Marketing or Digital teams to drive growth through insight, not just reporting.
You're a problem solver at heart-comfortable navigating ambiguity, connecting data across sources, and turning analysis into clear, actionable recommendations. You enjoy collaborating with cross-functional teams and influencing decisions at all levels of the organization.

This role sits at the center of Marketing, Finance, and Data - helping shape how we invest in growth, measure performance, and scale the business.
Every day is going to be a little different, some special topics will take longer than others, exposing you to a wide range of people, skills, and understanding than most finance-based roles typically can. You'll encounter:

  • You will directly support key Marketing and Digital efforts to enable massive growth and scale for the Company
  • Consistent contact with Potbelly's CMO and other members of the Senior Leadership team.

  • you will do:
  • Serve as the primary Finance partner to Marketing and Digital leadership, helping shape growth strategy and investment decisions
  • Build and refine frameworks to evaluate marketing effectiveness, including ROI, payback, and incrementality
  • Translate marketing and customer data into actionable insights that improve performance across channels
  • Lead financial evaluation of campaigns, promotions, and tests to inform go/no-go decisions
  • Drive pricing and promotional strategy through modeling of elasticity, mix, and competitive positioning
  • Partner on test-and-learn agenda, ensuring rigorous prioritization and measurement of results
  • Contribute to developing the annual Marketing budget and monthly forecasts
  • Work closely with Marketing leadership to build long-term strategic plans and business cases to support presentations to senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Direct and support various initiatives to improve and enhance financial processes, data visualization, reporting, etc. through Power BI, Planful and Excel.
  • Recruit, coach, and retain top talent in the Finance department.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and work on project teams as the need arises.
  • Report to VP of Finance.

What you will need:
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive career growth, ideally in a multi-unit, retail, or food business; high growth company and multi-channel experience a big plus (with focus on supporting marketing and/or e-commerce).
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance.
  • Demonstrated leadership, team-building and coaching skills, experience building teams and supporting cross-functional partners.
  • Proven experience in budgeting/forecasting and various types of financial analysis.
  • Must be at an advanced Excel skill level and have experience with ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting tools such as Power BI, Planful, or other similar financial systems. R and/or Python experience a plus.
  • Sense of urgency and focus on results.
  • High energy level and intellectual curiosity, with a strong desire to learn.
  • Excellent problem solving, project management, and analytical skills.
  • Experience using complex statistical analysis and modeling to draw insights from large data sets is a big plus.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and influencing skills.
