Job description

Our client is a leading employee benefits administration organization specializing in pension, annuity, and multiemployer benefit plan services. They are dedicated to providing high-quality administrative support and exceptional service to plan participants, employers, and trustees

Key Responsibilities and Day-to-Day Duties

  • Oversee Pension & Annuity department operations and workflow to ensure efficient and accurate service delivery.

  • Supervise, coach, and develop a team of five staff members.

  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of pension and annuity benefit applications and payments.

  • Attend trust meetings, benefit fairs, union meetings, new-hire orientations, and industry conferences as needed.

  • Respond to participant, employer, and client inquiries regarding benefits and claims.

  • Review financial statements, benefit disbursements, contracts, and plan amendments.

  • Support client projects, plan renewals, proposals, and business development initiatives.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong leadership, supervisory, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, solve complex problems, and make sound business decisions.

  • Experience reviewing and interpreting legal, contractual, and regulatory documents.

Team Size and Reporting Structure

  • Directly oversees a team of five Pension & Annuity staff members.

  • Reports to the Pension & Annuity Department Manager

Pension/Annuity Administration Experience Requirements

  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret Plan Documents, Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs), ERISA regulations, and Department of Labor requirements.

  • Pension and annuity administration experience preferred, including:

  • Benefit application processing

  • Annual reconciliations and reporting

  • QDRO and divorce decree review

  • Withdrawal liability matters

  • Participant and employer communications

Any Preferred Industry, TPA, or Taft-Hartley Experience

  • Experience working with multiemployer (Taft-Hartley) benefit plans is preferred.

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with trustees, legal counsel, consultants, employers, and plan participants.

  • Experience preparing meeting agendas, reports, minutes, and other board or client communications is preferred.

Systems and Software

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams.

Compensation

  • Compensation has limited flexibility and will be determined based on the candidate's knowledge, qualifications, and relevant experience.
