Job description

Medical Director (Board-Certified Surgeon) - Chesapeake Veterinary Surgical Specialists (Annapolis & Hunt Valley, MD)

Chesapeake Veterinary Surgical Specialists (CVSS) is seeking a board-certified surgeon to step into the role of Medical Director, guiding our outstanding teams at both our Annapolis and Hunt Valley locations.

Since 1992, CVSS has been a trusted leader in specialty surgery, known for advanced procedures, a collaborative culture, and a commitment to the highest standard of patient care. With eight board-certified surgeons, dedicated anesthesiologists, 24/7 ICU support, and strong partnerships with internal medicine, cardiology, dentistry, and ophthalmology, our hospital is equipped to handle even the most complex cases with expertise and compassion.

The Medical Director role
This is a unique opportunity for a surgeon who wants to continue practicing at a high clinical level (approximately 60% clinical, 40% administrative) while helping to shape the future of a premier surgical practice. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing medical leadership and ensuring exceptional standards of care
  • Guiding, mentoring, and supporting our doctors and teams
  • Partnering on financial goals and operational strategy
  • Addressing client concerns and fostering strong referral relationships
  • Spending dedicated time at both our Annapolis and Hunt Valley hospitals

As part of Ethos Veterinary Health, you'll also participate in Leadership Essentials, a structured program designed to support new Medical Directors in their management journey.

What we offer:

  • Competitive compensation package, including an anticipated management stipend (dependent on experience)
  • State-of-the-art facilities with the latest surgical and imaging technology
  • 24-hour ICU coverage and access to a network of specialists for truly comprehensive care
  • A strong, collaborative team culture where your leadership will make an immediate impact

Located in the heart of Maryland, our two sites give you the best of both worlds: the historic charm and waterfront lifestyle of Annapolis and the vibrant community of Hunt Valley, just outside Baltimore.

If you are a surgeon ready to take the next step in your career, balancing clinical excellence with leadership opportunity - we'd love to hear from you.

The anticipated starting base salary range for individuals expressing interest in this position is $220,000 to $280,000 per year.

If you are interested in this great leadership opportunity, please send your CV to Jennifer Harper at jennifer.harper@ethosvet.com
