Job description

Do you enjoy working outside? And fixing things and working with your hands? Opal Foods is searching for a GROUNDS MAINTENANCE PERSON for our Layer Farm in Roggen, CO. This position is responsible for maintaining grounds and performing preventive maintenance/repairs on farm vehicles and equipment.

Must maintain compliance with all company policies and governmental regulations including safety, bio-security and animal welfare requirements. This position will work in and on the grounds of the hen houses and must be able to work in a live animal/farm environment. This position will also assist the Production Manager with other projects and duties as needed.Position Responsibilities:Maintain clean and tidy farm grounds using front end loader, mower, weed-eater, and other yard maintenance tools; manage trash and foot-pansDetect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervisionKeep vehicles and farm equipment running and operating safely and efficiently by performing regular maintenance and repairsPerform preventive and urgent maintenance of vehicles and equipmentDiagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustmentsTake a proactive approach to issue resolution including root cause analyses and error proofing controls related to down timeUse a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment to perform various dutiesComply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work environmentPhysical Requirements of a Maintenance Technician:Biosecure - this is a shower in/shower out facility every time you go from outside to inside and vice-versaFast paced work environmentLift fifty or more pounds on a regular basisBend, lift, pull, push, stoop, bend and climbWork in a general farm environment around live animals; must be able to tolerate a dusty, dirty work environmentRequirements: (knowledge, experience, skills, education)Previous grounds maintenance experience; front end loader/forklift certificationPrevious vehicle mechanic, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair skills Excellent safety habits and organizationWilling to work off schedule shifts and/or nights when necessary in all types of weatherWilling to work 6 days per week, including weekend daysPreferred Qualifications:2 years of experience in related rolesAbility to communicate in English and SpanishAbout Opal Foods: Opal Foods was formed in 2014 and is a partnership between Rose Acre Farms and Weaver Brothers.
