Job description

The Andrology Laboratory Technician follows the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results. Attention to detail is essential with these duties. The Andrology Lab Tech will be responsible for serving patients by providing precise and accurate laboratory results for the purpose of infertility assessment and management. This role is responsible for performing Andrology and Endocrine laboratory services in accordance with the Laboratory Procedure Manual.


This position is expected to work approximately 30–40 hours per week through the end of the year, with the potential for extension based on business needs. The schedule varies based on clinic needs, with typical hours between 7:00–7:30 AM and 4:00–5:00 PM. The office closes at 1:00 PM on Wednesdays.


Essential Functions and Accountabilities:

  • Maintains accurate and current records of patient reports and inventory.
  • Adheres to the laboratory’s quality control policies; documents all quality control activities, as well as all instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
  • Follows the laboratory’s policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory’s established, acceptable levels of performance.
  • Studies and remains current and knowledgeable with the Laboratory Operating Manual regarding quality assurance, quality control, safety procedures and operating guidelines for performing all assigned laboratory services.
  • Holds a comprehensive understanding of and follow all OSHA requirements for safe laboratory operations to maintain a safe laboratory environment.
  • Assures quality care by adhering to therapeutic standards; follows practice, physician and laboratory division philosophies, as well as standards of care set by the state and other governing agency regulations.
  • Works cooperatively with the Company multidisciplinary teams to provide good patient care and achieves the objectives and goals of the practice.
  • Maintains patient confidence and protect operations by keeping all patient and proprietary information confidential. Adheres to signed HIPAA Confidentiality Agreement.

Academic Training:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a chemical, biological, clinical laboratory science or related – required
    • Studies level: University Education (Bachelor's Degree)
    • Studies area: Chemical/Biological/Clinical Laboratory Science or other related field

Position Requirements/Experience:

  • Minimum 6 months’ laboratory training towards degree or experience in a clinical or research lab – preferred
  • Candidates must be comfortable performing phlebotomy, and previous blood draw experience is preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Electronic Medical Records experience - preferred
  • Excel at Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Ability to operate laboratory equipment, hormone analyzers and microscopes
