Job description

Patent Litigation Associate Attorney (Life Sciences/ANDA)

Locations: Washington, DC, San Diego & Palo Alto, CA Practice Area: IP Litigation (Life Sciences)

Direct Counsel is seeking an IP Litigation Associate to join a leading firm's Washington, DC or Palo Alto office. This role is ideal for candidates with ANDA and/or life sciences patent litigation experience who are eager to take on substantive responsibilities, including courtroom advocacy and depositions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle patent litigation matters in U.S. District Courts and before the PTAB.
  • Conduct factual and legal research, draft pleadings, and develop case strategies.
  • Participate in discovery on infringement, validity, and damages issues.
  • Take and defend depositions, draft dispositive motions, and handle claim construction briefing.
  • Engage in pre-trial and trial activities.
  • Work directly with clients, opposing counsel, and internal teams.

Qualifications:

  • 2-6 years of patent litigation experience at a comparable law firm.
  • Experience in Hatch-Waxman (ANDA) litigation or other life sciences patent matters.
  • Undergraduate or master's degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or related life sciences discipline (preferred).
  • Strong oral advocacy skills with courtroom and deposition experience.
  • JD from a top-tier law school with strong academic credentials.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $235,000 - $365,000 (Final offer based on experience and location).
