ACQUISITION PROGRAM MANAGER
WORK LOCATION: Hanscom AFB, MA
SALARY RANGE: $120,000 - $135,000 annually

CLEARANCE: Must posess and be able to maintain an Active US Secret clearance
Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an Acquisition Program Manager to support the Ground Based Air Defense Division located at Hanscom AFB in Bedford, MA.
In this role, you will be instrumental in developing, acquiring, fielding, and sustaining critical systems that support global Battle Management, Command & Control, Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C2ISR), and Integrated Air and Missile Defense.
You will work directly alongside Government Program Managers and Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leads, serving as a trusted advisor to ensure successful program execution, navigate complex DoD acquisition policies, and deliver vital capabilities to the warfighter on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Acquisition & Policy Guidance
  • Navigate and implement broad acquisition strategies, including Urgent Capability Acquisitions and Middle Tier of Acquisition (DoDI 5000.80 & 5000.81).
  • Keep leadership informed on DoD acquisition reform policies (e.g., Evolutionary, Spiral, and Incremental Development) and recommend strategy adjustments.
  • Outline policy disconnects, interpret guidance, and provide actionable advice to division branch chiefs and program managers.

Program Execution & Performance Management
  • Drive cost and schedule reduction initiatives across complex acquisition and development efforts.
  • Analyze and correlate Earned Value Management (EVM) Cost Performance Reports with monthly Integrated Master Schedules (IMS).
  • Interpret, organize, and execute project assignments, providing recommendations to resolve unique or controversial execution challenges.
  • Support operational planning, capability development, event integration, and operational analysis for mission execution.

Pre-Award & Source Selection Support
  • Lead the development of source selection strategies, evaluation criteria, and Request for Proposal (RFP) documentation.
  • Conduct market research and evaluate deliverable requirements to ensure realistic technical approaches suitable for the warfighter.

Leadership & Communication
  • Maintain the acquisition "battle rhythm" by coordinating directly with program-level scheduling personnel and prime contractors.
  • Develop, review, and present program status briefings, schedules, and statutory/regulatory milestone reports to senior management.
  • Actively review program integration plans to ensure consistency and alignment with overall strategic direction.

Required Qualifications
  • Comprehensive understanding of DoD and Air Force systems acquisition principles, policies, and program management (specifically DoDI 5000.02 / 5000.75).
  • Proven ability to apply qualitative and quantitative techniques to gather data, analyze program effectiveness, and measure productivity.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with extensive experience developing high-visibility briefings, technical documents, and program plans.
