What is an analytics manager?

An analytics manager translates raw data into insights that a business can use. Usually leading a team of analysts, your job duties include developing data analysis strategies, tracking and reporting on performance, implementing tools and solutions, and overseeing all analytics operations. You must stay up-to-date on current industry trends. Strong communication and analytical skills are required. Other qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in statistics, data management, or information technology and proven career experience in market research, statistical modelings, or project management.

How does an analytics manager typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business insights?

Analytics Managers frequently work alongside teams such as marketing, product development, finance, and operations to translate data into actionable business strategies. They facilitate meetings to understand stakeholder goals, guide data collection efforts, and present findings in a way that's accessible to non-technical audiences. This cross-functional collaboration ensures that insights are aligned with business objectives and that projects are implemented effectively. Strong communication and project management skills are essential for success in this collaborative environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an analytics manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Analytics Manager, you need strong analytical skills, data interpretation expertise, leadership experience, and typically a degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or a related field. Familiarity with analytics platforms (such as Tableau, Power BI), programming languages (like SQL, Python, or R), and data management systems is essential, along with relevant certifications such as Google Analytics or Certified Analytics Professional (CAP). Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills help you translate complex data insights into actionable business strategies. These competencies ensure data-driven decision-making, effective team leadership, and impactful business outcomes.

Job description

FP&A MANAGER | Financial Planning & Analysis Leader

Build the FP&A Function. Own the Insights. Drive Strategic Growth.

Join a rapidly growing, mission-driven healthcare organization where you'll have the unique opportunity to build a best-in-class FP&A and business analytics function from the ground up. We're seeking an FP&A Manager who thrives at transforming complex financial and operational data into actionable insights that guide executive decision-making and fuel organizational growth.

Compensation

$145,000+ Base Salary (flexible for the right candidate)
Sign-On Bonus + Performance Bonus Opportunities

Why This Opportunity Stands Out
  • Build and lead an in-house FP&A and financial reporting function from scratch
  • Serve as a key strategic business partner to the CEO and President
  • Create the forecasting, budgeting, and reporting infrastructure that drives decision-making
  • Join a fast-growing behavioral health organization expanding across multiple states
  • Own the development of dashboards, KPIs, board reporting, and management reporting packages
  • Influence technology, ERP selection, automation initiatives, and reporting tools
  • Opportunity to hire and develop your own FP&A team as the company scales
  • High-visibility role with direct impact on company performance and growth initiatives
  • Competitive compensation package with long-term growth potential
  • Mission-driven environment focused on improving lives through behavioral healthcare
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, quarterly forecasting cycles, and long-range strategic planning
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual management reporting process
  • Develop and maintain executive-level dashboards, KPI reporting, and financial performance metrics
  • Design, build, and automate financial reports that provide meaningful insights to leadership
  • Extract, analyze, and synthesize data from multiple systems to support operational and strategic decisions
  • Deliver comprehensive variance analysis, trend reporting, and profit center performance analysis
  • Build sophisticated financial models to evaluate growth opportunities, new locations, and strategic initiatives
  • Partner with operational leaders and executive leadership to identify trends, risks, and opportunities across the organization
  • Implement reporting best practices, data integrity controls, and scalable reporting systems
  • Support M&A activity, expansion planning, and strategic decision-making through financial analysis and business case development
Ideal Background
  • 7+ years of progressive FP&A, corporate finance, financial analysis, or strategic finance experience
  • Strong expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, management reporting, and business analytics
  • Proven ability to create impactful reports from large datasets and translate financial information into actionable business insights
  • Advanced Excel skills, including complex modeling, dashboards, scenario analysis, and data visualization
  • Experience working with ERP systems, reporting platforms, business intelligence tools, and large data sets
  • Strong understanding of KPI development, operational metrics, and performance management
  • Ability to communicate financial results and recommendations effectively to executives, board members, and non-finance stakeholders
  • MBA, CFA, CPA, or related credentials are a plus
  • Experience in healthcare, multi-entity organizations, private equity-backed environments, or high-growth companies is highly preferred
What We're Really Looking For

This is not a traditional budgeting and forecasting role. We need a finance leader who can build reporting from the ground up, analyze business performance, create executive dashboards, identify trends, and provide insights that influence strategic decisions across the organization.

The ideal candidate enjoys digging into large datasets, building sophisticated financial models, uncovering business drivers, and telling the story behind the numbers. If you're energized by creating meaningful reporting, partnering with executive leadership, and helping drive the next phase of growth, we'd love to hear from you.
