How much do analog electronics engineer jobs pay per year?

As of Aug 17, 2026, the average yearly pay for analog electronics engineer in the United States is $88,896.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $59,500.00 and $109,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is an analog electronics engineer?

Analog electronics engineers are professionals who design, develop, and test electronic circuits and systems that use continuous electrical signals, rather than digital signals. They work with components like resistors, capacitors, transistors, and operational amplifiers to create devices such as audio amplifiers, radio frequency circuits, sensors, and power management systems. Their expertise is crucial in industries like telecommunications, medical devices, automotive, and consumer electronics, where precise signal processing and amplification are required.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an analog electronics engineer?

To thrive as an Analog Electronics Engineer, a solid background in circuit design, signal processing, and electronic theory is essential, typically supported by a degree in electrical engineering or a related field. Familiarity with simulation tools like SPICE, PCB design software, and proficiency in using oscilloscopes and other test equipment are commonly required. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective teamwork and communication skills help engineers excel in collaborative and innovative environments. These competencies are crucial to ensuring reliable analog system performance and successful project outcomes in both development and troubleshooting contexts.

What are some common challenges faced by analog electronics engineers when working on complex circuit designs?

Analog Electronics Engineers often encounter challenges such as minimizing signal noise, managing power consumption, and ensuring component compatibility in complex circuit designs. They must carefully balance performance with reliability, especially when working with mixed-signal systems or designing for harsh environments. Collaboration with PCB designers, firmware engineers, and testing teams is essential to address these issues and ensure that the final product meets all specifications and regulatory standards.

What is the difference between Analog Electronics Engineer vs Digital Electronics Engineer?

AspectAnalog Electronics EngineerDigital Electronics Engineer
Required CredentialsBachelor's in Electrical/Electronic Engineering; certifications in analog circuit designBachelor's in Electrical/Electronic Engineering; certifications in digital circuit design
Work EnvironmentDesigning and testing analog circuits, working in labs or manufacturingDeveloping digital systems, programming, and testing digital circuits
Industry UsageConsumer electronics, audio equipment, instrumentationComputers, communication systems, embedded systems

Analog Electronics Engineers focus on designing circuits that handle continuous signals, while Digital Electronics Engineers work with discrete digital signals. Both roles require similar educational backgrounds and often collaborate in electronic product development, but they specialize in different types of circuitry and applications.

Are analog electronics engineers in demand?

Analog electronics engineers are in steady demand due to their expertise in designing and maintaining analog circuits used in communication, medical devices, and consumer electronics. Skills in circuit simulation tools and understanding of semiconductor components enhance job prospects in this field.

Freedom Electronics is seeking a hands-on Electronics Engineer with approximately 2 years of professional experience to support the analysis, troubleshooting, repair, reverse engineering, and improvement of electronic assemblies and circuit boards.

This position is ideal for an early-career engineer who has a strong foundation in electronics and enjoys hands-on problem solving. The engineer will work closely with senior engineers, technicians, production teams, and other cross-functional groups to troubleshoot electronic failures, understand existing circuit designs, develop test methods, support component-level repairs, and assist with the modernization of legacy electronic products. The role will provide opportunities to develop expertise in PCB reverse engineering, embedded systems, firmware, LCD/LED displays, touchscreen technologies, component-level troubleshooting, and electronic test systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with reverse engineering of electronic assemblies and printed circuit boards, including signal tracing, component identification, schematic reconstruction, testing, and documentation.ย

Perform component-level troubleshooting and failure analysis on electronic circuit boards using established diagnostic methods.ย

Use oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, logic analyzers, power supplies, and other laboratory equipment to diagnose electronic and electrical problems.ย

Support troubleshooting and integration of LCD/LED displays, touchscreen assemblies, digitizers, and associated electronic interfaces.ย

Assist senior engineers with reverse engineering products and assemblies from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).ย

Support root-cause analysis of failed or intermittent circuit boards and document findings and corrective actions.ย

Assist in developing test fixtures, test procedures, and automated or semi-automated test solutions for board-level diagnostics and validation.ย

Support redesign and modernization of legacy circuit boards, including identification and evaluation of replacement components for obsolete or discontinued parts.ย

Assist with prototype assembly, debugging, testing, and validation of new or redesigned electronic products.ย
