What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Atomos (assuming you mean an Atomos Video Equipment Specialist), and why are they important?

To thrive as an Atomos Video Equipment Specialist, you need expertise in video production, camera technology, and hands-on experience with Atomos recorders and monitors. Familiarity with video editing software (such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro), knowledge of codecs, and sometimes vendor-specific certifications are important assets. Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and effective communication help in supporting users and collaborating with creative teams. These skills ensure the optimal use of Atomos equipment, high-quality video output, and smooth production workflows.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working at Atomos in the video production technology industry?

Professionals at Atomos often work in a fast-paced, innovative environment, where staying current with rapidly evolving video technology standards and customer needs is essential. One common challenge is adapting to frequent product updates and tight production timelines, which require strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as engineering, marketing, and customer support. Additionally, team members may regularly interact with creative professionals and industry partners, requiring clear communication and flexibility. This dynamic environment offers excellent opportunities for learning and career growth but demands adaptability and a proactive approach to overcoming technical and logistical hurdles.

What are Atomos in a professional context?

Atomos is a company that specializes in creating video and audio production equipment, most notably external monitor-recorders used by filmmakers and content creators. Their products enable high-quality recording, monitoring, and post-production workflows for cameras and other video devices. Atomos devices are widely recognized for their user-friendly interfaces and ability to improve video quality and editing flexibility. They are commonly used in professional video production, broadcasting, and independent filmmaking.

What is the difference between Atomos vs Video Editor?

AspectAtomosVideo Editor
Primary RoleCapture, monitor, and record video footage using hardware devicesEdit and assemble video footage into final products
Required SkillsVideo monitoring, hardware setup, live recordingVideo editing software proficiency, storytelling, post-production skills
Work EnvironmentOn-set, live production, post-production facilitiesEditing suites, post-production studios, remote work
CertificationsNone typically required, technical hardware knowledge preferredVideo editing software certifications (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro)

Atomos focuses on hardware solutions for capturing and monitoring video, while Video Editors specialize in post-production editing using software. Both roles are essential in video production but serve different stages of the process.

Job description

MEMS Fabrication Engineer

We're looking for a hands-on MEMS Fabrication Engineer to own design, process development, characterization, and productization of a novel micro-scale actuator platform. This role spans multi-physics modeling, microfabrication, and early manufacturing scale-up. As an early hire, you will directly shape the core architecture and manufacturing strategy.

What You'll Do

  • Design & Simulation: Build and refine multi-physics models with emphasis on electromechanical and fluid behavior
  • Process Development: Invent and iterate custom, non-standard MEMS process flows from first principles; define and manage Pareto trade spaces across performance, yield, and manufacturability.
  • Microfabrication: Own end-to-end fabrication, including patterning, surface engineering, thin-film deposition and etching.
  • Characterization: Validate designs using destructive and non-destructive techniques, including SEM, C–V measurements, and accelerated stress testing.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 3+ years of hands-on micro-fabrication experience and multi-physics modeling.
  • Core technical skills:
    • Deep understanding of thin-film deposition using physical and chemical methods (PVD, CVD, ALD etc)
    • Strong materials science fundamentals: mechanical behavior, thin-film stress, adhesion, electrochemistry
    • Demonstrated experience inventing and scaling new fabrication processes, with attention to yield, repeatability, and failure modes
    • Practical understanding of fluid dynamics and microfluidic behavior as it relates to microfabrication and device performance
  • What we value:
    • Strong problem-solving abilities with a first-principles approach to complex challenges
    • Clear communication and strong ownership in a startup setting
    • Genuine enthusiasm for robotics and physically intelligent systems
    • A builder mindset: rapid iteration, learning from failure, and shipping real hardware

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience
