Job description

American GFM Corporation is a leading innovator in the design and manufacture of high-precision tooling and machinery for the metalworking and composites industries. As a Mechanical Service Technician, you will play a key role in assembling, installing, and servicing complex machinery for customers across North America. This hands-on position is ideal for individuals who enjoy problem-solving, working with sophisticated mechanical systems, and making a direct impact on customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble machines according to assembly prints and engineering specifications.
  • Fit and adapt mechanical components, including drilling, tapping, installing bearings, and fitting covers.
  • Install hydraulic and pneumatic valves, fittings, pipes, and hoses as required.
  • Prepare machines for integration of auxiliary devices such as safety equipment, automation systems, and induction heaters, following customer design requirements.
  • Power up, debug, and verify machine functionality to ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Install and start up machines at customer facilities, integrate with automation systems, and provide training to maintenance technicians on proper operation, setup, and repair.
  • Deliver follow-up service to ensure machinery operates according to design and meets customer expectations.
Qualifications
  • Experience using basic hand and power tools (e.g., drills, taps, grinders, saws).
  • Proficiency with measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
  • Experience with lifting and rigging equipment for moving machines and components.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical assembly prints, detail prints, and hydraulic/pneumatic schematics.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Mechanical background or prior service experience in the machine tool industry preferred.
