Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Oncology/Med-Surg RN for a 13-week night shift contract at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL.

Details
  • Acute care hospital setting on an Oncology/Med-Surg unit with an average daily census of 24 patients
  • 13-week contract, night shift schedule (3x12, 18:45–07:15)
  • Required to work every other weekend
  • Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital as needed
  • Charting is performed in Cerner
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
Requirements
  • Active IL RN license required; must be in hand or actively in the application process
  • Active BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards not accepted)
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Chemotherapy administration experience required, including: IV push, continuous infusion, oral administration, body fluid handling post-chemo, cytotoxic spill management/disposal, and lab value recognition and communication
  • IV therapy and infusion skills required, including: port access and care, central line care and blood draw, PICC line care, blood/blood product administration, antifungals, antivirals, coagulation factors, and starting IVs
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • Chemo certification preferred; OCN and ONS/ONCC certifications preferred
Additional Information
  • Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated facility with 562 staffed beds
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Any solid color scrubs are acceptable
  • Candidate must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • RTO of 5 days or fewer is preferred; requests exceeding 5 days require facility approval
  • Former permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before being considered as a traveler
  • Travel pairs are not accepted at this facility
  • Free parking is available with a permit obtained during orientation
