Job Summary

Dauch is seeking a Process Safety Management (PSM) Engineer to join our world-class team. This is an outstanding opportunity to be part of a leading company in the automotive industry, where you will have the chance to contribute to the flawless execution of our manufacturing processes. This role located at our Gallatin plant in Gallatin, TN.

The PSM Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the Process Safety Management (PSM) program to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company safety standards. This role focuses on identifying, evaluating, and controlling process-related hazards to prevent incidents involving hazardous chemicals and high-risk operations.

Job Description

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the site PSM program in accordance with regulatory and corporate requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable PSM regulations (e.g., OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119 or equivalent local regulations).

  • Maintain and update PSM documentation including process safety information (PSI), procedures, and records.

  • Conduct periodic audits and assessments to ensure program effectiveness.

  • Lead and facilitate PHA studies (e.g., HAZOP, What-If, FMEA, LOPA).

  • Track and ensure closure of PHA action items.

  • Review process changes and ensure hazards are properly evaluated before implementation.

  • Manage and oversee the MOC process to ensure risks associated with process, equipment, material, and procedural changes are evaluated and controlled.

  • Ensure proper documentation, risk assessment, approval, and communication of changes.

  • Lead or participate in incident investigations related to process safety events.

  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions.

  • Monitor leading and lagging process safety performance indicators.

  • Support the mechanical integrity program to ensure critical equipment is properly inspected, tested, and maintained.

  • Provide PSM-related training to employees and contractors.

  • Support emergency response planning and drills.

  • Participate in internal and external regulatory audits and inspections.

  • Plan, schedule, and ensure completion of preventive maintenance work orders to meet PSM guidelines

  • Ensure equipment repairs are made in accordance with PSM guidelines

  • All other duties as assigned.

Skills & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

  • 3–7+ years of experience in process safety, manufacturing, oil & gas, petrochemical, or related industries.

  • Strong knowledge of PSM regulatory requirements and risk assessment methodologies.

  • Experience facilitating HAZOP or other hazard analysis techniques.

  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, or equivalent regulatory standards.
