Job Description Summary
As a Final Inspector at American Axle you will be responsible for performing comprehensive quality checks on finished gear components and assemblies to ensure they meet precise engineering specifications and quality standards before shipment. This role is crucial in maintaining American Axle's reputation for high-quality products.
Job Description:
  • Conduct thorough visual and dimensional inspections of completed gear components and assemblies using a variety of precision measuring instruments.
  • Verify product conformance to blueprints, engineering drawings, and quality control documents.
  • Identify and document any non-conforming products, including defects, deviations, and discrepancies, according to established procedures.
  • Initiate and complete necessary quality control documentation, inspection reports, and non-conformance reports accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality assurance teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as quality management system requirements.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of inspection processes and procedures.

Required Skills and Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality inspection, preferably in a manufacturing environment specializing in precision components (e.g., gears, automotive, aerospace).
  • Demonstrated ability to use a wide range of precision measuring instruments accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills for documenting findings and collaborating with team members.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally and stand for extended periods.
