Job Description
The Staff Product Engineer for BMS is a highly experienced and technically proficient role responsible for the successful characterization, qualification, and high-volume manufacturing release of BMS ICs for automotive applications. The ideal candidate will be a technical leader with deep knowledge of automotive quality and safety standards (AEC-Q100, APQP, ISO 26262) and a strong understanding of IC design, test, and manufacturing processes.
This role is a critical link between the design, test, applications, and quality assurance teams, ensuring that the BMS IC meets all functional, performance, and reliability requirements throughout its lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
  • Product Qualification and Reliability:
    • Lead and manage the qualification of new BMS products, ensuring compliance with automotive standards such as AEC-Q100 for stress qualification.
    • Develop, execute, and oversee comprehensive product reliability plans.
  • Characterization and Validation:
    • Develop and implement characterization plans to fully test and validate the performance of BMS ICs, covering all features and operating conditions.
    • Work closely with design and test engineers to create robust and efficient test programs for both characterization and high-volume manufacturing.
  • Statistical Data Analysis:
    • Apply advanced statistical analysis techniques to product data for process monitoring, yield optimization, and test limit definition.
    • Utilize statistical tools to identify and resolve performance and reliability issues.
  • Automotive Quality and Functional Safety:
    • Serve as the product expert for Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities, including Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Control Plans, and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation.
    • Drive functional safety (ISO 26262) compliance by supporting safety mechanism validation, fault injection testing, and reporting as part of the overall IC safety case.
  • Problem Solving and Failure Analysis:
    • Lead cross-functional teams in the analysis of customer returns and production test failures to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
    • Utilize techniques such as 8D methodology for formal problem-solving and reporting.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Act as the primary technical interface for customers, application engineers, design teams, and test engineers.
    • Provide technical support during product integration and production ramp-up.

Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 10+ years of relevant experience in product or test engineering for automotive semiconductor ICs.
    • Extensive experience with BMS ICs or similar power/analog ICs for automotive applications.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Deep understanding of automotive standards, including AEC-Q100, APQP, PPAP, and ISO 26262.
    • Proficiency in statistical analysis tools and methodologies for IC data.
    • Strong knowledge of IC fabrication, assembly, and testing processes.
