Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Hiller Measurements PCB Technicians are responsible for assembling, repairing, reworking and the modification of developmental and production components, parts, equipment, and PCBs. PCB Techs will follow build-to-print and custom test systems documentation under the direction of the production manager, production flow control and/or engineering. Also utilizing technical manuals and using knowledge of electronics systems/components and electromagnetic circuit theory, the technician assembles a finished, professional project subassembly or system for our customers, whether a build-to-print or a prototype/custom internal design.
PCB specific technicians are responsible for reworking and/or repairs PCBs and other electronic assemblies to drawings, assembly instructions, job travelers, facility procedures, parts lists, schematics, and engineering guidance. This technician must possess a separate dynamic skillset, attention to detail, and utilize a large range of tools/soldering specific equipment such as soldering irons, preheaters, machine tools, crimpers, and hot air stations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, schematics, diagrams, drawings, parts lists and taking verbal instruction for building, converting, and modifying all types of electronic and mechanical assemblies.
  • Documenting actions and providing Engineering feedback on incorrect documentation.
  • Test electronic components for electronic continuity.
  • Gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials. Must have a broad knowledge of various electronic components and industry connection types available. Assembling components and examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies.
  • Provide required production and quality records as necessary.
  • Laying out, building, assembling, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, reworking and the modification of developmental and production components.
  • Assembly technicians with the responsibility of PCB/CCA population and rework should also be proficient/familiar with IPC 7711/7721. These technicians are responsible for population of bare circuit boards, difficult micro soldering, and circuit card assembly rework.

Requirements
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Prototype skills in working from schematics.
  • Capable of working in fast paced environment.
  • Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.
  • Must have experience in Hand soldering both lead and lead-free assemblies to IPC class 3 standards.
  • Experience with Altium viewer or equivalent software.
  • Extreme attention to detail.

Education, Experience, and Other Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • IPC J-STD-001, IPC-7711/7721.
  • Must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident (due to company contracts falling under the ITAR).

Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a workbench.
  • Prolonged periods standing and performing repetitive tasks.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at a time.
  • Must have manual dexterity to assemble products or machines as directed.
  • Must have excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to wear gloves and ear protection when required.
  • Must be able to traverse the production facility.
