The role is a part of the Revenue Engineering Team within our Revenue Management group. This role is responsible for developing and driving improvements in Revenue Management systems by building automation forecasting and optimization engines that are responsible for increased performance and revenue for all flights in the American Airlines network.
What you'll do
  • Defines and solves complex problems through quantitative analysis and analytical models, using operations research, statistics, machine learning, and forecasting techniques.
  • Builds mathematical models, develops applications, and provides support to the business.
  • Participates in model design, prototype, model development, and model implementation.
  • Formulates hypotheses and design tests to support business.
  • Leverages statistics to evaluate tests that will drive positive revenue decisions.
  • Implement prototype solutions using programming languages such as Python and statistical tools like R, as well as business insights.
  • Develop a solid understanding of core airline economics and be well positioned for potential advancement.
  • Works within revenue management and various commercial groups to creatively solve business problems by understanding business processes and airline economics in order to identify and implement solutions that will drive revenue performance.
  • Deliver professional presentations and communications around complex topics targeted to varied audiences.
  • Partners with Information Technology to implement prototype solutions and improve systems.

All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
• Master's/PhD degree or Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Engineering, etc.)
• Experience working with a minimum of one programming language like Python, R, Java, or other relevant programming languages
• Knowledge in at least one of these skilled areas: machine learning, optimization, simulation, statistics
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
• Master's/PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Engineering or related field
• Experience solving large-scale problems and familiarity with the airline industry are a plus
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
• Successful candidates will have a demonstrated aptitude for logical analysis, problem identification, and problem solving as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• The ability to use computer-based tools and programming languages to implement solutions is required.
• Strong experience with Python, R, writing complex SQL queries, Big Data or experience with other data mining packages is a plus.
• Willingness to show initiative and take ownership of job responsibilities.
