What is Amazon Lending?

Amazon Lending is a financing program offered by Amazon to eligible small and medium-sized businesses that sell on its platform. The program provides access to short-term business loans, lines of credit, and merchant cash advances, helping sellers manage inventory, expand operations, or cover other business expenses. Loan offers are typically based on a seller's performance and sales history on Amazon, and the application process is streamlined within the Seller Central dashboard. Repayments are automatically deducted from the seller’s Amazon sales, making it a convenient option for many marketplace vendors.

Job description

About Us:
At Parafin, we're on a mission to grow small businesses.
Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, but traditional banks often don't have their backs. We build tech that makes it simple for small businesses to access the financial tools they need through the platforms they already sell on.
We partner with companies like DoorDash, Amazon, Worldpay, and Mindbody to offer fast and flexible funding, spend management, and savings tools to their small business users via a simple integration. Parafin takes on all the complexity of capital markets, underwriting, servicing, compliance, and customer service for our partners.
We're a tight-knit team of innovators hailing from Stripe, Square, Plaid, Coinbase, Robinhood, CERN, and more - all united by a passion for building tools that help small businesses succeed. Parafin is backed by prominent venture capitalists including GIC, Notable Capital, Redpoint Ventures, Ribbit Capital, and Thrive Capital. Parafin is a Series C company, and we have raised more than $194M in equity and $340M in debt facilities.
Join us in creating a future where every small business has the financial tools they need.
About the Position
We're looking for a user-focused backend engineer to join our Lending Products team in San Francisco to help build the platforms and infrastructure that power the suite of Parafin's lending products. The Lending Products team builds the core systems, frameworks, and tooling that product engineers across Parafin rely on to build and iterate on financial products. You'll partner with engineering teams across the company, including those that own offer generation, servicing, and repayment, to build and improve the platform capabilities they need to ship new product verticals quickly and reliably.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll independently own and ship platform features end-to-end, contribute to the design of new platform capabilities, and play a key role in the team's growth.
What You'll Be Doing:
  • Own the development of key components of our lending platform infrastructure, including the systems and frameworks that product engineers use to build and ship lending products.
  • Partner with engineers on teams that own specific lending verticals to understand their needs and build platform capabilities that enable them to move quickly.
  • Identify, own, and implement improvements to our infrastructure to support product development and improve system reliability.
  • Contribute to a strong engineering culture through thoughtful code reviews, clear documentation, and knowledge sharing.
  • Mentor other engineers, drive improvements to team processes and code quality, and foster a culture of craft and ownership.

What We're Searching For:
  • 5+ years of experience working in a backend engineering role, ideally in a platform or product-focused environment.
  • You care deeply about building high-quality software and take pride in your work.
  • You are comfortable owning and driving the development of new platform capabilities from the ground up.
  • You have a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and a desire to continue learning.
  • You have strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills, comfortable working across Engineering, Product, and Data Science teams.
  • You are excited about working on a small team and playing a key role in our company's growth.

Bonus Points
  • Experience building internal platforms or frameworks that other engineering teams build on top of.
  • Experience in fintech, financial products, or embedded finance.
  • Experience designing systems with strong correctness and auditability requirements.

What We Offer
  • Salary Range: $230k - $265k
  • Equity grant
  • Medical, dental & vision insurance
  • Work from home flexibility
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Commuter benefits
  • Free lunches
  • Paid parental leave
  • 401(k)
  • Employee assistance program
