Job description

Come build the future of sports shopping as a Principal Business Development Manager on Amazon's Licensed Sports team, where you will be inspired working alongside best-in-class inventors, innovators, and huge sports fans. Amazon Licensed Sports is building the future of sports shopping and working to bring fans the best customer experience possible. Our approach and technology are nothing short of disruptive, and promise to challenge traditional approaches and change the way the industry operates for the benefit of fans. The Licensed Sports team is responsible for retail partnerships and selection expansion with professional leagues like the NFL, NBA, WNBA, and NHL, as well as collegiate properties. The role will work with major sporting leagues, established and emerging licensed sports brands, and a cross-functional Amazon team to grow and develop Amazon's licensed sports business, ensuring fans and our customers can find the selection they want when shopping our store. You will define the long-term strategy for one or more major sport leagues and the related shopping experience in the Amazon store. TO be successful in the role, you will need to be capable of operating in ambiguous environments and design creative approaches to solve dynamic and complex problems.
Key job responsibilities
The Principal Business Development Manager's primary responsibilities will include:
• Defining a flexible, league-focused, long-term strategy for the business and breaking that strategy down into actionable goals;
• Proactively leading efforts to identify, evaluate, negotiate and manage sports partnerships that drive customer engagement and support our strategic objectives;
• Understanding inputs and opportunities of the category P&L;
• Managing relationships with external partners, including with leagues, player associations, and brand partners;
• Driving cross-functional collaboration to drive internal stakeholder alignment; and
• Acting as the single-threaded owner of one or more major US sports leagues and all related retail business in the Amazon store.
In addition to leading business development efforts for assigned sports leagues, this person will provide thought leadership in building a successful licensed sports business that meets fans where they are and redefines the customer experience in the industry. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong business acumen, deep understanding of and passion for the sports landscape, business development experience, strong written and verbal communication skills, an ability to work effectively with cross functional teams, and an ability to work in a fast paced and ever-changing environment.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 9+ years of developing, negotiating and executing business agreements experience
- 9+ years of business development, partnership management, or sourcing new business experience
- Experience developing and executing on GTM strategies that are large in scope
- Bachelors Degree
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience developing, deploying and managing AI products at scale
- Experience building scalable programs and repeatable scalable processes, levering various tools and methods to create scale and efficiency
- MBA

The base pay for this position ranges from $153,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $254,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
