Overview

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Software Engineer / AWS Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain secure cloud-based applications and data solutions within a highly classified mission environment. This position requires strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, Python and Java development, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Linux, Docker, and infrastructure-as-code using the AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK).


What will you do?
  • Design, build, and maintain secure web applications within the Sponsor’s classified JWICS and C2S cloud environments.
  • Develop cloud-based applications and solutions using Python and Java.
  • Design, develop, query, optimize, and maintain Elasticsearch and AWS OpenSearch environments.
  • Write and tune complex queries against structured and unstructured datasets using SQL and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch query languages.
  • Design and implement cloud-native solutions using AWS services, including:
    • Lambda functions and layers
    • Amazon S3
    • AWS Batch
    • Amazon EC2
    • Amazon EventBridge
    • Amazon SQS
    • Amazon SNS
    • IAM roles and policies
    • Amazon DynamoDB
    • AWS container services
  • Build and maintain cloud infrastructure using the AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK).
  • Develop Linux shell scripts to support automation, deployment, and system operations.
  • Build, maintain, and deploy Docker containers and images.
  • Transform data from multiple file types and formats into standardized formats such as JSON, CSV, and XML.
  • Work closely with application developers to identify and implement infrastructure, deployment, and operational requirements.
  • Apply knowledge of programming, software tools, operating systems, networking, and cloud technologies to solve complex mission and collection requirements.
  • Assess technical and project requirements and provide informed recommendations on architecture, implementation, and delivery approaches.
  • Collaborate with technical teams across multiple organizational boundaries.

  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining secure web applications on classified Sponsor networks, including JWICS and C2S.

  • Experience programming in Java.
  • Hands-on experience designing, developing, querying, and maintaining Elasticsearch and/or AWS OpenSearch.
  • Experience writing and optimizing complex queries against structured and unstructured datasets using SQL and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch query languages.
