Role Overview

This role supports a compliance solutions team by combining data engineering and software engineering responsibilities. You will build data pipelines, backend services, and analytics components for a satellite communications service. The focus is on developing regulatory and compliance-driven data solutions, with approximately 60-70% greenfield development and the remainder enhancing existing systems. You will work within established architectural patterns to help meet regulatory obligations across multiple jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement logical and physical data models and ETL/ELT pipelines to consolidate compliance data.
  • Build and maintain event-driven integration components, such as data pipelines, Lambda functions, and Step Functions workflows.
  • Implement backend services including APIs, workflow orchestrations, and dashboard backends.
  • Write, test, and deploy well-written, maintainable, and secure production code.
  • Implement data quality checks, validation, and monitoring for compliance-critical datasets.
  • Extend existing services to support new compliance requirements and jurisdictions.
  • Build components that handle sensitive regulatory data with appropriate encryption and access controls.
  • Contribute to self-service analytics through reporting tools and dashboards.
  • Maintain production systems with comprehensive monitoring, alarming, and logging.
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and sprint ceremonies.

Required Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field is required.

Experience: 3+ years of data engineering experience, including data modeling, pipeline development, and data warehouse design, along with 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience building production services.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python, Java, or TypeScript; strong SQL skills; and experience with AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, and DynamoDB.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building event-driven architectures using Step Functions, EventBridge, or SQS/SNS.
  • Experience with serverless development patterns on AWS.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (CDK, CloudFormation).
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance or telecommunications domains.
  • AWS certification.
