The Associate Director, Medical Physicist will be responsible for applying their deep expertise in nuclear medicine and molecular imaging (including PET, SPECT, 3D autoradiography instrumentation and quantitative analysis), radiopharmaceutical-specific radiobiology and/or dose modeling and machine learning to drive innovation and ensure the highest standards in both preclinical and clinical programs. The Associate Director, Medical Physicist will lead and coordinate imaging and dosimetry activities across multidisciplinary teams, oversee translational dosimetry analysis (incorporating alpha imaging-enabled modeling or physiologically-based pharmacokinetics and compartmental modeling as appropriate), support clinical studies and manage collaborations with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and scientific partners. The ideal candidate will execute conventional RPT physics approaches with ease, drive deep-learning based innovations with a passion to advance imaging technologies and/or dose projection modeling, contribute to protocol and strategy development, and provide technical support and training, all while championing quality practices and regulatory compliance in the adoption of novel radioisotopes and modeling approaches, including for alpha-emitting radiotherapeutics.

Job Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Lead and coordinate all aspects of internal dosimetry and quantitative imaging analysis in the discovery and development of radiopharmaceutical imaging and therapeutic agents.

  • Initiate, design, and execute imaging strategies for preclinical and clinical studies, including protocol development, imaging manuals, statistical analysis plans, and clinical trial reporting.

  • Perform advanced dosimetric analysis and modeling from imaging modalities (e.g., PET, SPECT, CT, 3D autoradiography), including kinetic modeling, compartmental analysis, and physiologically-based pharmacokinetic modeling to assess drug uptake, distribution, and translation from animal to human.

  • Oversee and optimize image data quality control, including standardization processes, calibration, and quality assurance, aligned with current industry guidelines and literature.

  • Innovate and implement new imaging technologies, reconstruction algorithms, and modeling approaches to enhance diagnostic accuracy, therapeutic efficacy, and radiopharmaceutical development, including novel radioisotopes (e.g. alpha-emitters).

  • Manage and support relationships with imaging and dosimetry vendors, CROs, external investigators, and government agencies.

  • Provide expert technical support, training, and problem-solving solutions to cross-functional teams throughout the organization.

  • Contribute to regulatory activities, claims strategies, and the advancement of medical physics knowledge in radiopharmaceuticals.

  • Communicate complex imaging and dosimetry topics clearly and concisely to internal and external scientific stakeholders.

  • Organize, prioritize, and deliver on corporate timelines in a dynamic, multidisciplinary team environment with minimal supervision.

  • Maintain professional ethics, integrity, leadership, and confidentiality, and stay current with global dosimetry guidelines and advances in radiopharmaceutical science.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Medical Physics, Nuclear Medicine, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline, with didactic training in dosimetry-enabling image-quantification and/or RPT biodistribution, kinetics and dose modelling.
