Job description

WHY JOIN ALPHA HEALTH SERVICES?

Alpha Health Services is a Pennsylvania ODP-certified provider of community-based support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and autism. We are a mission-driven team that puts people first — and we're growing.

Looking for meaningful part-time work with a flexible schedule? This role offers approximately 15 hours per week supporting a participant in their home and community — making a lasting difference while fitting around your life.

WHAT WE OFFER

• Competitive pay: $17.00 – $18.50 per hour (based on experience)

• Mileage reimbursement for community-based outings and transportation

• Flexible scheduling — approximately 15 hours per week

• Meaningful, relationship-based work with one-on-one participant support

YOUR ROLE

As a part-time DSP, you will work one-on-one with a participant with intellectual/developmental disabilities in the community and in-home setting. You will follow the participant's Individualized Support Plan (ISP), provide transportation, promote independence, and document progress — all while building a trusted, caring relationship.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Transport participant to community activities, appointments, and outings in support of their ISP goals (valid driver's license, proof of auto insurance, and reliable vehicle required)

• Provide personal care support (bathing, grooming, dressing) with dignity and respect

• Support and encourage community participation and social inclusion

• Monitor participant for any changes in health, behavior, or condition and report to supervisor

• Observe and accurately document participant behavior, progress, and significant changes in status

• Implement individualized care plans tailored to the participant's unique needs

• Assist with meal preparation, accommodating any dietary needs or restrictions

• Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and participant confidentiality

• Collaborate with the care team including supervisors, healthcare professionals, and family members

• Complete all required PA ODP training and maintain certifications

WHAT YOU BRING

• Genuine passion for supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and autism

• Previous experience as a DSP or in a direct care/caregiving role (required)

• Valid PA driver's license, active auto insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle

• Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills

• Ability to support clients in daily living activities while promoting independence

• Reliable, punctual, and dependable — your participant counts on you

• Proficient in observing and documenting participant behavior and progress

• Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality

• Ability to pass all required PA ODP background checks and clearances

• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations preferred

Note: Some participants may express a preference for a same-gender DSP for personal care. Specific case-matching details are discussed during the hiring process.
