Tax Manager Tax Manager
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead tax compliance, planning, and advisory services for a portfolio of corporate and individual clients. The Tax Manager will ensure accurate, timely filings, manage tax provision processes, provide technical guidance on complex tax matters, and mentor a team of tax professionals to deliver high-quality client service and optimize tax positions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax returns for corporations, partnerships, and individuals to ensure accuracy and timely filing.
  • Manage and mentor a team of tax professionals, including workload allocation, performance reviews, and training to build technical capabilities.
  • Lead tax provision (ASC 740) calculations and coordinate with finance for quarterly and annual reporting.
  • Provide technical research and analysis on complex tax issues, interpret tax law changes, and recommend practical solutions to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and manage partnership tax compliance and K-1 preparation, including allocation analysis and partner communications.
  • Develop tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and optimize clients' tax positions across corporate and individual matters.
  • Serve as primary client contact for tax matters, delivering clear explanations of tax positions, recommendations, and potential risks.
  • Liaise with tax authorities during audits and examinations, prepare responses to information requests, and manage audit timelines.
  • Implement process improvements and leverage tax software and automation tools to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (finance, legal, and operations) on transactions, restructurings, and year-end planning matters.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Masters degree in Taxation or CPA-preferred graduate-level coursework is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive tax experience with demonstrated experience managing tax compliance and advisory engagements.
  • Proven experience in tax provision (ASC 740), return preparation, and tax research using authoritative sources.
  • Strong leadership and people-management skills, with experience supervising and developing staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to translate technical tax concepts for non-tax stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency with tax software (e.g., UltraTax, Lacerte, OneSource), Excel, and tax research tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines, with strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Required: Experience in a Tax Manager role or equivalent responsibility.
  • Preferred: Knowledge and hands-on experience with Partnership Tax, Corporate Tax, and Individual Tax matters.
  • Preferred: Active CPA or EA license or progress toward licensure.
