Job description

Control Risks is seeking an experienced Intelligence Analyst to support the security, integrity, and successful execution of our client’s global Esports events and competitive gaming ecosystem. This role will lead a team of intelligence analysts responsible for monitoring and assessing threats emerging risks, online narratives, and global developments that may impact eSports tournaments, live events, professional players, employees, executives, and brand reputation.

The Lead Analyst will serve as the team’s senior analytical lead, ensuring intelligence products are timely, accurate, actionable, and aligned with stakeholder needs. This person will also provide day-to-day team leadership, including work allocation, quality assurance, coaching, people management, and coordination with internal and client-side stakeholders across Esports Operations, Event Protection, Trust & Safety, Corporate Security, and related functions.

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of a three-person intelligence team supporting global eSports tournaments, live broadcasts, fan events, executive engagements, and other high-profile activities.
  • Manage analyst work allocation, event coverage planning, prioritization, and quality control to ensure consistent delivery of timely and actionable intelligence.
  • Deliver and oversee event-specific intelligence assessments, threat analyses, and risk reporting to support eSports competitions, public events, travel, media engagements, and executive-facing activities.
  • Conduct and supervise continuous monitoring of traditional media, social media platforms, gaming communities, livestreaming platforms, forums, and other online channels to identify credible emerging threats and risks.
  • Assess threats impacting eSports events, including targeted violence, harassment, stalking, doxxing, swatting, protests, venue disruptions, extremist activity, criminal activity, misinformation, and online campaigns targeting players, talent, staff, or the organization.
  • Perform and guide open-source intelligence research and analysis to identify security, operational, geopolitical, reputational, and event-related risks affecting eSports operations globally.
  • Monitor gaming and eSports communities to identify harmful narratives, coordinated harassment campaigns, reputational threats, and emerging issues that could impact events, players, sponsors, broadcast partners, or organizational brands.
  • Produce and review actionable intelligence products, including threat assessments, event risk briefings, executive summaries, intelligence alerts, travel risk assessments, and situational awareness reports for stakeholders and leadership.
  • Support risk assessments and security planning efforts for international tournaments, championship events, fan experiences, public appearances, media engagements, and executive travel.
  • Partner closely with Esports Operations, Event Protection, Trust & Safety, Corporate Security, GSOC personnel, and other business stakeholders to ensure intelligence informs security planning and operational decision-making.
  • Provide real-time intelligence leadership during live eSports events by monitoring developing incidents, guiding analyst response, supporting escalation decisions, and briefing stakeholders on relevant external developments.
  • Maintain clear standards for analytical tradecraft, source validation, reporting quality, escalation thresholds, and team workflows.
  • Identify opportunities to improve intelligence processes, reporting templates, monitoring coverage, and stakeholder engagement across the program.
  • Liaise with GSOC personnel and global security teams to facilitate timely identification, escalation, tracking, and reporting of incidents, threats, and significant risk trends.
  • Bachelor's degree in Intelligence Studies, International Relations, Political Science, Security Studies, Communications, Journalism, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
  • Approximately 6-9 years of experience in intelligence analysis, OSINT, protective intelligence, threat intelligence, investigative research, event intelligence, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience providing event specific intelligence monitoring, including live intelligence during ongoing events.
  • Strong people management experience, including coaching, performance support, workload management, feedback delivery, and team development.
  • Experience supporting major sporting events, esports tournaments, conferences, festivals, entertainment events, or large public gatherings.
  • Experience reviewing analytical products and ensuring quality, consistency, accuracy, and appropriate sourcing.
  • Knowledge of trust and safety operations, online threat actors, misinformation campaigns, coordinated inauthentic behavior, and platform abuse.
  • Understanding of player, talent, executive, and event security considerations within the gaming and esports industry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into concise and actionable reporting.
  • Experience supporting time-sensitive operations and managing multiple priorities in fast-paced environments.
  • Understanding of intelligence collection methodologies, source validation, risk assessment, and analytical tradecraft.
