Job description

Brayman Construction is hiring a full-time Superintendent to support Deep Foundations and Geotechnical construction at the newly awarded ALCOSAN Ohio River Tunnel Project. This large scale, long-term project is designed to reduce combined sewer overflows (CSO), requiring strong field leadership and rigorous safety oversight. JOB SUMMARY

The Grouting Superintendent is responsible for assigned construction projects and will lead, manage and oversee overall project work plans and progress for the projects assigned. The Superintendent works closely with the General Superintendent of the region to ensure that the focus remains on company goals, such as safety, quality and workmanship that meets the Company and Owner standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees and supervises field staff, craftworkers, and subcontractors.
  • Prepares work schedules and assignments.
  • Communicates and enforces safety procedures.
  • Helps develop schedules, work plans and productions during the bidding process and will monitor work plans and productions in the field after project award.
  • Works with the Senior Superintendent to coordinate the hiring and movement schedules of operational employees and equipment within the region assigned.
  • Ensures compliance with safety plans, work plans and project specifications and monitors the performance of craftworkers and employees.
  • Trains and develops employees within current and future roles to meet both employee and company growth.
  • Works closely with regional General Superintendent to develop strategic growth plans, yearly budgets, equipment purchase plans, and employee capacity.
  • Ensures specifications and regulations outlined in architectural and engineering plans are followed.
  • Confirms required permits and licenses are obtained; executes construction contracts according to terms of agreement.
  • Monitors budgets throughout the assigned projects and communicates variances as they occur.
  • Addresses any safety violations or other deficiencies.
  • Processes timesheets related to activities performed each given day for employees and equipment.
  • Conducts daily Tool Box Talks and JSA's and weekly safety inspections of the overall site.
  • Ensures proper equipment is being used onsite for all functions of the work.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to work and think independently, solve problems and be able to lead a team/crew.
  • Ability to oversee and coordinate a variety of people in different roles.
  • Ability to recognize skilled and unskilled trade talents and weaknesses.
  • Ability to read, understand, and execute blueprints, drawings, and plans.
  • Thorough understanding of legal requirements relating to construction sites.
  • Thorough understanding of quality construction practices.
  • Ability to quickly identify problems and efficiently solve them.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Extremely detail-oriented.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • At least 5 years of experience managing Deep Foundation and Geotechnical construction projects, preferably structure related, with multiple trades and numerous craft persons is required.
  • Experience with Secant Pile walls and shafts preferred.
  • Experience with contracts, specifications, reports and records is required.
  • Experience with trade supervision including performance evaluations.
  • Experience with hiring, supervising, and assisting in training of union trades.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification is required to be obtained.

This is a Safety Sensitive Position requiring work on project sites, including federal projects, and in a heavy manufacturing facility with carious safety hazards which are potentially life-threatening to the employee. This position may require working at heights, in confined spaces, around heavy equipment, around high voltage, and under constantly changing circumstances. This position may also entail project site work at night and on weekends on an as needed basis. This position will be subject to more stringent drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a federal contractor.
