The primary responsibility of a United On-Premise Sales Apprentice is learning the role of a United Sales Representative. The role focuses on learning United's portfolio and learning United's go-to-market strategy for effective selling. An On-Premise Sales Apprentice works closely with his or her manager to learn how to sell, how to manage marketing material within customers, perform sales deliveries, and how to use any and all of United's technology systems. The Sales Apprentice runs vacation routes for fellow Sales Representatives in order to practice these skills in the market. This position is perfect for a self-motivated, competitive individual who thrives in situations requiring a high level of collaboration, organization, interpersonal skills, and creativity.
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • High school or vocational school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • 1-3 years of sales experience preferred
  • Restaurant/Bar/Industry experience preferred
  • Valid driver's license for applicable state
  • Valid auto liability insurance for applicable state
  • Ability to secure and maintain a State Alcohol Sales Permit in accordance with state law
  • Responsibilities:
  • Learn all facets of the United sales representative role
  • Drive to all call points
  • Run vacation routes for sales team members
  • Complete tap handle surveys for specific customers
  • Perform sales deliveries to customers
  • Sell United's products to maintain and increase United's market share
  • Sell new items and programs
  • Use Encompass to bill orders and run sales reports
  • Build positive relationships with customers, United's sales teams, and United's delivery associates
  • Increase product knowledge with customers
  • Host product tastings to place new items in customers
  • Build sales presentations, pricing sheets, and tasting notes for customers to complement the sale of new items
  • Manage marketing within customers including point of sales material, displays, and brand development promotions when applicable
  • Help customers build and update menus
  • Conduct staff training on new products
  • Host beer, wine, and spirits dinners in customers
  • Work some extended hours and some weekends as needed
