About the Role
We're looking for a Superintendent that will lead, direct, and coordinate the overall site management of Heavy Civil and Bridge Construction projects. The Superintendent works in cooperation with the Project Management Team to execute and implement the total scope of services as defined in the project contract documents, and to achieve project completion and profit objectives. This role provides strong field leadership, ensures compliance with safety and quality standards, and drives efficient execution of project operations.
Core Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership
    • Create cost efficiencies through process improvement.
    • Support and drive utilization of company initiatives and technologies.
    • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the project through immersion into contract documents.
    • Set the overall strategy for scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control, and self perform crew staffing.
    • Focus on project details and direct field execution to ensure alignment with project goals.

  • Field Operations and Safety
    • Oversight and management of all field personnel, working through and with assigned Foreman and field personnel.
    • Through partnership with the Field Safety Team, the Superintendent has full authority and responsibility for the management of the worksite safety program. With the Project Team, the Sup't assists in efficiently identifying, correcting, and reporting unsafe behavior or hazardous conditions for full project worker safe operations.
    • Ensure startup meetings are facilitated effectively before each scope of work with RNGD crews and Subcontractors to facilitate efficient operations and coordination between all parties to attain optimal performance.
    • Lead the implementation and compliance of quality control plans.
    • Ensure the efficiency, quality, and safe operations of all jobsite activities and timely turnover of facilities to the owner.

  • Documentation and Reporting
    • Log, track, and process required project documentation, including daily logs, daily progress photos, work plans, safety inspection lists, JSAs, competent person forms, risk management plans, execution checklists, OneCall Notices, and inspection reports.
    • Analyze reports on project performance and adjust strategies as needed.
    • Report on progress toward stated performance targets and KPIs.

  • Team Development and Client Management
    • Coach, develop, and retain a high-performance project team.
    • Uphold brand standards and reinforce the company's core values and manifesto, leading by example.
    • Proactively manage client, employee, and subcontractor experiences to ensure satisfaction.
    • Actively participate in industry associations to represent and promote the company.

  • Financial and Risk Management
    • Proactively monitor financial performance of the project, identifying risks early and implementing mitigation strategies.
    • Ensure efficient workflows and usage of enabling technologies to support project success.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 6+ years of field leadership experience in a Heavy Civil construction environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of civil construction processes and systems.
  • Exceptional relationship-building, listening, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to create and support strong team morale.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction forecasting, cost, scheduling, estimating, purchasing, and accounting principles.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules.
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex construction issues.
