Position Summary

The Management Trainee is a training position for future development into roles with Akers Packaging Service Group. The Management Trainee will spend no less than two years working in the various functional level areas of the business in order to gain valuable industry experience and a global understanding of our business and best practices. This position will rotate through Production, Quality & Safety, Shipping, Design, Customer Service, Sales, Accounting and People.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Willingness to work in all functional areas during the rotation
  • Work in collaboration with the President and functional lead to gain required knowledge
  • Follow expectations and responsibilities outlined by the functional lead and outlined in the training document
  • Participation in industry training events and self-lead courses
  • Gain general understanding of machine types, limitations, procedures, and processes
  • Clear understanding of 5-S
  • Able to communicate clearly across disciplines (sales, shipping, design, production, quality & safety, accounting, and administration)
  • Understand our sales pipeline, review cost estimating and understand pricing process
  • General understanding of the cash flow cycle, purchase order process and invoicing
  • General understanding of the importance of accuracy, measures of effectiveness, workflow and quality as it relates to customer service
  • Ability to work in excess of 40 hours, as business needs arise
  • Regular and reliable attendance
  • Any other task or duty that is deemed necessary by management.

Work Environment / Physical Demands

Fast paced environment, requiring adaptation to continuous changes in Company, Customer and People needs

  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arm’s length, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Ability to work around machinery, loud environment and non-climate controlled areas.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Associate degree, bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining data security.
