How much do akc jobs pay per hour?

As of Jul 19, 2026, the average hourly pay for akc in the United States is $14.34, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $12.26 and $15.87 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are AKC jobs?

AKC jobs refer to employment opportunities within the American Kennel Club (AKC), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the registration, promotion, and welfare of purebred dogs in the United States. Jobs at AKC can include roles in event coordination, dog show judging, canine health research, customer service, public relations, and administrative support. Employees work to support responsible dog ownership, manage dog events, and provide resources to breeders, trainers, and dog enthusiasts. Working for the AKC often involves a passion for dogs and a commitment to animal welfare.

What are some common challenges faced by AKC inspectors during kennel inspections?

AKC inspectors often encounter the challenge of ensuring breeders fully comply with complex AKC regulations and maintaining consistent communication about best practices. They may also face situations where facilities are not up to standard, requiring sensitive but firm guidance. Another challenge is managing a large territory and coordinating inspections efficiently while maintaining detailed records. However, these challenges offer opportunities to educate breeders and positively impact animal welfare.

What is the difference between Akc vs Certified Veterinary Technician?

AspectAkcCertified Veterinary Technician
CredentialsAKC registration, breed-specific certificationsVeterinary Technician Certification (CVT, RVT, or CVT)
Work EnvironmentDog shows, breeding programs, pet organizationsVeterinary clinics, animal hospitals, shelters
Employer & IndustryDog breeders, pet organizations, AKC eventsVeterinary practices, animal healthcare facilities

While AKC focuses on dog registration, breed standards, and participation in dog shows, Certified Veterinary Technicians are trained professionals providing medical care in veterinary settings. Both roles involve working with animals, but AKC is more about breed and event management, whereas CVTs are involved in animal healthcare.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an AKC (American Kennel Club) dog show judge, and why are they important?

To thrive as an AKC dog show judge, you need in-depth knowledge of breed standards, canine anatomy, and judging protocol, typically supported by extensive experience in dog breeding or showing. Familiarity with AKC rules, judging guidelines, and continuing education seminars is essential. Strong observational skills, impartiality, and effective communication set a standout judge apart. These competencies ensure fair, knowledgeable evaluations and uphold the integrity of AKC events.

Part Time Pet Groomer

Bark & Mane of West Placer

Loomis, CA • On-site

$220 - $310/day

Part-time

Re-posted 2 days ago

Job description

Benefits:
  • Bonus based on performance
  • Flexible schedule
  • Free uniforms
  • Training & development

Experienced groomer wanted for a calmer, more independent grooming role.
Bark & Mane is hiring an experienced part-time pet groomer to join our new mobile grooming team. We provide premium one-on-one grooming at the customer’s home, with a focus on making the experience easier and less stressful for both pets and their owners.
This role is a good fit for someone who takes pride in doing quality work, communicates well with clients, and wants a grooming job with more independence than a traditional salon. You’ll be working out of a fully equipped Mercedes-Benz mobile grooming van, with scheduling support and a business model built around quality, reliability, and long-term client relationships.
This may be a good fit for an experienced groomer who wants strong earning potential without a full-time schedule.
Dog grooming experience is required. Cat grooming experience is a strong plus, but not required for the right candidate.
Compensation
This role is designed for experienced groomers who can build toward a full mobile grooming schedule and strong daily earnings. This is a non-exempt hourly position with commission-based earning potential and tips.
  • Hourly pay starting at $22/hour
  • Overtime paid as required by California law
  • Estimated full-route earnings: approximately $300+ per day before tips
  • Tips are additional
  • Part-time schedule, with specific days/hours to be discussed
  • Referral and performance bonus opportunities may also be available
Our mobile grooming model serves clients who value convenience, quality, and one-on-one care at home. Because appointment prices are higher than many traditional salons, experienced groomers can earn strong daily pay while grooming fewer pets in a quieter, more focused environment.
A  strong route of approximately six appointments can generate around $310/day before tips, with tips adding additional earning potential. During ramp-up or lighter schedule days, groomers are protected by a guaranteed hourly base of $22/hour.
Actual earnings vary based on schedule, completed appointments, services performed, and tips.
Why Work with Bark & Mane?
A calmer workday
Work one-on-one with pets in a quiet, cage-free mobile setting. No crowded salon floor, no stacked kennels, and no constant pressure to rush through as many dogs as possible.
Quality-focused grooming
We want groomers to work efficiently, but not at the expense of safety, comfort, or the quality of the groom.
Independence
You’ll work independently throughout the day, with support from the office for scheduling and routing.
Strong earning potential
Our clients are looking for premium mobile grooming, not bargain-basement grooming. That creates better earning potential while allowing you to focus on fewer pets per day.
Fully equipped mobile grooming van provided
We provide a Mercedes-Benz mobile grooming van with air conditioning, heating, water, electricity, a hydrobath, and a professional grooming setup.
Fuel and tools/supplies support
Fuel, van maintenance, and business grooming supplies are covered. Groomers may use their own preferred personal tools.
Safety matters
You have the ability to decline aggressive or unsafe pets. Groomer safety and pet wellbeing both matter here.
Supportive owner and team culture
This is a new local business, and I want to build it the right way: with good communication, high standards, and respect for the people doing the work.
Responsibilities
As a Bark & Mane mobile groomer, you will:
  •  Provide high-quality grooming services for dogs
  •  Groom cats when qualified and comfortable doing so
  •  Safely operate a mobile grooming van
  •  Communicate clearly and professionally with clients
  •  Keep the van clean, safe, and organized
  •  Follow proper safety, sanitation, and animal handling procedures
  •  Help create a reliable, warm, professional experience for clients and their pets
  •  Represent Bark & Mane with kindness, reliability, and good judgment

Requirements
We are looking for an experienced groomer who has:
  •  Professional dog grooming experience
  •  Ability to complete full grooms independently
  •  Strong bathing, drying, clipping, brushing, de-matting, and finishing skills
  •  Good scissoring and styling skills
  •  Excellent animal handling and safety awareness
  •  Good customer service and communication skills
  •  A clean driving record
  •  Reliability, professionalism, and a positive attitude
  •  Comfort working independently during the day
Preferred but not required:
  •  Cat grooming experience
  •  Mobile grooming experience
  •  Experience with anxious, senior, or special-care pets
  •  AKC S.A.F.E. Grooming certification or other professional grooming education is a plus. If you do not already have AKC S.A.F.E. certification, we’ll provide the training during onboarding
No degree is required. We care most about your grooming skill, reliability, judgment, communication, and how you treat pets and clients.
