The Training Designer is responsible for designing, developing and maintaining effective learning programs that support business objectives and are aligned with Air Canadaโ€™s strategic ambition to become a global top ten airline in everything we do. Reporting to the Manager, Training Design, this role participates in the full design cycle within a dynamic team environment to produce instructional detailed design documents, storyboards, facilitator guides and other learning collateral.

Responsibilities:

  • Work in collaboration with the Manager, CCST Design and other stakeholders to identify learning outcomes and to design/develop learning solutions which align to adult learning principles and instructional design best practices
  • Use instructional design models, processes, and learning theories to produce effective learning programs that is of quality, scope, and meet learning outcomes.
  • Manage the development of multiple initiatives/projects of varying degrees of complexity with competing timeframes.
  • Define instructional direction and drive continuous improvement of learning solutions by designing and curating endโ€‘toโ€‘end learner experiences that reflect adult learning principles, accessibility, strong user experience, and business relevance across regulatory and nonโ€‘regulatory programs.
  • Maintain learning programs to ensure their continued effectiveness and relevance
  • Continuously be familiar with key business processes, functions, systems and support cross functional training team initiatives
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and subject matter experts both internally and externally
  • Maintain broad industry knowledge and understanding of marketplace trends to develop best-in-class learning solutions.
  • Deliver Train-the-Trainer workshops to enable Trainer Readiness to fulfill training program requirements

Qualifications

  • Adult or Workplace Learning certificate or diploma
  • At least 3 years of applied instructional design experience
  • Experience in the Hospitality or Airline industries would be considered a strong asset
  • Experience designing instructor-led, online, mobile experiences or a blend of method
  • An aptitude for understanding systems and technical concepts quickly
  • Strong understanding of ID methodologies and demonstrated application
  • Willingness and ability to travel 10-15% of the time
