Job Description
Performs duties of an Aircraft Weapon Technician under the guidance of an Aircraft Weapon Gun Crew Leader. Performs a variety of tasks associated with aircraft weapons and related munitions testing. Transports, emplaces, operates, and recovers a variety of aircraft mounted and ground fired weapon systems. Uses an M1A1 gunner quadrant to align mobile, ground-launched rocket launchers - both NATO and foreign varieties. Following applicable TMs and SOPs, prepares ammunition for firing, loads, and downloads weapon systems such as Hydra 2.75-inch rockets, guided missiles, 20mm and 30mm guns on attack and scout helicopters, and small arms up to .50 caliber. Supports test missions using ground based laser designator system, operated both remotely and manually. Operates a variety of electronic equipment such as oscilloscopes, intrinsically safe multi-meter, and assists with electronic firing systems. Operates support equipment such as rough terrain forklift and overhead crane. Performs other duties required to complete mission. This position is covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Qualifications
Pay Rate: $25.31
Education/Licenses/Certifications/Experience Requirements:
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a current AA&E certification.
  • Must maintain licenses and/or certifications to operate forklifts and overhead cranes.
  • Must have served in the military with training and a Military Occupation Specialty (MOS) of 15Y-15J (Army) or 6531 (Marine Corps) or equivalent military experience OR at least one (1) year as an Aircraft Weapons Technician I.

Job Skills Requirements:
  • Must be competent with the M1A1 Gunner Quadrant.
  • Must be able and willing to use tools such as picks and shovels to emplace weapon system.
  • Must be able to pass Aircraft Weapon Technician qualification exam.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical and periodic retests.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for work tasks assigned.
  • Must be capable of working in extreme weather conditions including summer temperatures peaking around 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Must be capable of lifting 100 lbs. unassisted.
  • Must be capable of frequent squatting, crouching, and stooping.
  • Must be capable of passing a laser eye exam.
  • Must be capable of lifting and carrying 100 lbs. across uneven terrain.
  • Must be tolerant of frequent weapons systems firings.
  • Must meet the physical requirements necessary to perform operations outlined, performed, and stated in the SOPs for Aircraft Weapons Section.

Job Requirements:
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, without special restrictions.
  • Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed, sometimes on short notice, to support test missions.
  • Must have dependable transportation and a dependable means of communication.
  • Must be able speak, write, read, and understand English.
  • Must have a well-mannered customer service attitude.
  • Must be willing to cross-train in other areas.

  • Military experience or training that includes weapons and/or ammunition training.
  • Experience with armed military aircraft, especially rotary wing.

Terms of Employment & Eligibility Requirements:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a security clearance prior to employment and maintain security clearance for the duration of employment.
  • Must be a current TRAX employee or affiliate subcontractor for internal postings.
