Document Controller

Starting as a hardware supply store during the California Gold Rush and eventually assisted in the birth of the aerospace industry in Southern California by providing aircraft aluminum to early aerospace pioneers like Lindbergh, Douglas and Lockheed.
Today Ducommun is a global provider of innovative manufacturing solutions for customers in the aerospace, defense and industrial markets. We specialize in electronic and structural systems, producing complex products and components for commercial aircraft platforms, mission-critical military and space programs, and sophisticated industrial applications.
Our BLR Aerospace operation is a leading provider ofproprietary aerodynamic systems that enhance the productivity, performance andsafety of rotary- and fixed-wing aircraft.
Job Summary
EngineeringChange Management
  • Lead the ECN process: organize meetings, ensure cross-functional collaboration, and track status of change documentation.
  • Coordinate completion of ECNs, obtain consensus between departments, and verify changes are reflected across affected documents and are MMA compliant.
  • Improve ECN tools and workflows to streamline operations.
  • Maintain accurate ECN logs, approvals, and metrics fortraceability.

Certification& Regulatory Compliance
  • Create, track, and release document packages for both minor and major engineering changes, ensuring consistency and accuracy across CCS, MDLs, and drawings.
  • Coordinate with FAA, ODA, and DERs to manage certification data submittals, ensuring accuracy and alignment with BLR's MMA and PSP agreements.
  • Track project submittals and foreign certifications, working closely with certification offices.
  • Manage the FAA approval and distribution of Master Drawing Lists (MDLs), ensuring timely releases to customers and suppliers.
  • Deliver document releases and changes across internal teams and to OEMs.
  • Conduct QMS audits and support the maintenance ofAS9100 and PMA certifications through process documentation and continuousimprovement projects.

EngineeringData & Document Control
  • Manage engineering data and documentation using PDM, including revision control, access permissions, metadata accuracy, and folder structure.
  • Organize and maintain internal file systems, audit for outdated files, and support document control procedures.
  • Upload and record new documents, approvals, and correspondence.
  • Coordinate with external partners (OEMs, manufacturers, suppliers) to ensure latest data and documentation are acquired and filed.
  • Develop and implement standardized templates, formatting guidelines, and documentation structures.
  • Create and maintain pack lists, ensuring they are accurate and align with engineering BOMs and inventory documentation.
  • Manage the lifecycle of intellectual property (IP), ensuring appropriate controls are maintained from initial development through end-of-life stages.
  • Coordinate internal and external data in alignmentwith contractual and regulatory Intellectual Property agreements.

TechnicalPublications & Supplier Support
  • Manage and update Technical Publications on the company website; ensure customers have access to the latest documentation.
  • Coordinate supplier data transmittals using SharePoint, ensuring secure access, IP security and compliance with
  • NDA and ASL requirements.
  • Maintain watermark technical documents and drawings toprotect IP and control distribution.
  • Responsible for protecting and maintaining all Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) appropriately to prevent unauthorized access, dissemination, or use of this information, documentation, or products; including authorized and proper use of such information in regard to marking, storing, transmitting, and destruction of data.
  • Support all visitors and security policies to protect ITAR/EAR/CMMC/CUI information, documents, products, etc. from unauthorized access by informing management immediately of any concerns.
  • Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in employee's work area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Regular and acceptable attendance is an essentialfunction of this job.

Required Experience and Education
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in a technical or administrative field
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred
  • 3+ years in document control, engineering support, or certification roles
  • Experience with PDM systems and ECN processes
  • Familiarity with FAA regulatory requirements and quality management systems (AS9100, PMA)
  • Willingness to complete ITAR/EAR/CUI and AS9100-related training
  • Exposure to configuration management principles and supplier data handling preferred
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks PDM and engineering data approval workflows

Licenses, Certifications, etc.
  • AS9100 Internal Auditor Training (in progress or completed)
  • CM2-D Configuration Management Training (planned)
  • ITAR/EAR/CUI Compliance Training (planned or completed)
  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt (planned or completed)
  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) (planned)
  • Training or experience in Export Control / "U.S. Person" compliance (22 C.F.R. § 120.15)
