Position Summary
Sinclair College offers one of the most comprehensive aviation technology programs in the nation which includes Bachelor of Applied Science degrees in Aviation Technology/Professional Pilot and Unmanned Aerial Systems. Sinclair's bachelor and associate degrees and technical certificate programs prepare graduates for careers as commercial fixed wing and helicopter pilots, aircraft mechanics, flight attendants, aircraft dispatchers, aviation managers and unmanned aerial systems operators and technicians.
The starting pay for Adjunct Faculty is $1,016 per credit hour assigned to teach. Sinclair Community College restricts part-time employment to approved states due to employment, tax, and benefits compliance requirements.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Maintain our FAA part 65 Dispatch program
  • Maintains FAA required records
  • Adjunct faculty teach curriculum developed by the department
  • Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning
  • Prepare and provide syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with department and divisional policies
  • Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, use available instructional technology when appropriate
  • Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student's needs
  • Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success
  • Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promote learning
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress • Submit final grade rosters according to established deadlines
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information
  • Adjunct Faculty cannot be assigned to teach more than the maximum of 12 credit hours per semester

Requirements
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in aviation or a related field required, OR must meet the specific requirements associated with Tested Experience.
    • Tested Experience Requirements: Associate's degree in the discipline or a related field preferred. A minimum of a high school diploma required, AND possession of an appropriate industry license, credential, or certification that qualifies the individual to teach the content, PLUS one or more of the following:
  1. Five years of experience working in a field specifically related to the course to be taught and/or college or university teaching in a field specifically related to the course to be taught (as determined by the department chairperson and approved by the division dean), OR
  2. Comparable or widely accepted experience specific to the field of the course to be taught

Additional Requirements
  • Industry experience preferred
  • Evidence of successful prior teaching experience preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative strategies shown to help students succeed at the course and program level
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work successfully in a community college environment
  • Demonstrated skills in using modern educational technology, including multimedia-based instruction required
  • FAA Ratings required: for Aircraft Dispatcher
    • To be considered, candidates must upload images of both the front and back of their FAA license in the Licensure/Certification section of the application
