Job Description
The main role of this position is to check customers' vehicles in when they drop off or pick up in Linden, NJ for transport as well as keeping the Linden yard clean of debris. In addition, this position will have the responsibility of assuming some of the terminal dispatcher's responsibilities when he/she is out of the office (vacation, personal time off, offsite meeting, etc.). Changes to these responsibilities may be changed or additional ones may be assigned at Management's discretion. This position is supervised by the Linden terminal dispatcher.
Responsibilities:
  • Inspect customers' vehicles when they are dropping in Linden yard for transport (see specific work instructions for detailed procedure)
  • Inspect vehicles being delivered to Linden by carrier partners then park in appropriate area (see specific work instructions for detailed procedure)
  • Stage outbound vehicles for carrier partners and inspect with carriers to ensure all damages are noted (see specific work instructions for detailed procedure)
  • Update customer orders in United Road's proprietary system (OVISS)
  • Assist terminal dispatcher, when needed, to obtain carriers and contact terminals for vehicle updates
  • Keep yard clean of debris to minimize customer claims and to keep professional appearance of facility
  • Assist terminal dispatcher with minor maintenance of building when needed
