2027 Internship - Interiors Engineering (Industrial Design)

As an intern with Textron, you'll gain hands-on experience while exploring your interests and building new skills. You'll be supported and challenged to contribute in meaningful ways - working on real projects alongside experienced professionals to prepare for future success.

JOB SUMMARY:

This is an opportunity to be immersed in the culture of a leading general aviation manufacturer, home to two iconic brands: Cessna and Beechcraft. In this role, you'll collaborate with and learn from our experienced Industrial Design staff. The open office layout encourages cross-disciplinary teamwork with design, mechanical, and electrical experts driving new product development. From small single-engine aircraft to super-midsized jets, the design projects span a wide range. Your primary focus will be interior development, where you'll integrate technology and human factors to enhance the cabin experience.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • At a minimum, fully understand and follow the project design brief and produce requested deliverables on time.
  • Based on project scope, preform thorough research, ideation, concept generation, and design refinement.
  • Support Human Factor mockups to inform design development.
  • Ask questions, challenge the status quo, and bring a high level of enthusiasm and creativity.
  • Be collaborative. Work through solutions with Engineering, Interior Design, and other technical groups and interns.
  • Build engaging presentations that communicate your design journey and final solutions.
  • There is much to learn in this 10-week experience - take advantage of as many intern events as possible and participate in facility tours at both east and west campuses.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Transportation Design, Product Design or other relative design discipline.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent visual communication skills
  • Experience with Adobe Suite products, CAD modeling and rendering software
  • Professional and diplomatic demeanor
  • Strong sense of accountability and integrity
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Time management skills to support multiple concurrent projects
  • Ability to deal with change and work in a dynamic environment
  • Proficient in use of standard Microsoft Office programs
