Job description

About XTI Aerospace
XTI aerospace is an advanced aviation company developing the TriFan 600, a next-generation vertical takeoff and landing aircraft designed to transform regional air travel.
Through its acquisition of Drone Nerds, a leading U.S. enterprise drone solutions provider, XTI is expanding into the broader unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) market-building a comprehensive platform across both manned and autonomous flight.
Together, XTI is shaping the future of the Vertical Economy™, combining cutting-edge aircraft design with real-world drone operations and services.
Job Summary:
As an Associate Engineer on our Structural Design team, you'll support the development of airframe components and assemblies for the TriFan 600. This entry-level role involves working under senior engineers to create CAD models, perform basic stress analyses, and generate structural drawings-all while learning industry best practices in composite and metallic structure design.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in creating and updating 3D CAD models and detailed drawings of structural components (using CATIA/3DExperience or SolidWorks).
  • Support stress and load analyses under guidance, preparing input decks for FEA tools and reviewing results.
  • Apply basic GD&T rules to ensure clear, manufacturing-ready documentation.
  • Work with PDM systems (Enovia, Windchill) to manage revisions and maintain data integrity.
  • Collaborate with senior structural, materials, and manufacturing engineers to refine designs for producibility.
  • Participate in design reviews, incorporate feedback, and track action items to completion.
  • Contribute to material selection discussions, understanding composite layup methods and lightweight metallic alloys.
  • Help prepare presentations and technical reports for internal teams and certification bodies.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering (or related field).
  • 0-2 years of industry experience (internships or co-ops in aerospace/manufacturing strongly preferred).
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software: CATIA/3DExperience, SolidWorks, Creo, or similar.
  • Familiarity with GD&T fundamentals and design drawing standards.
  • Basic understanding of structural analysis concepts and FEA workflows.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Eagerness to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Internship experience with aerospace structural or mechanical design teams.
  • Exposure to composite materials design or metallic alloy selection.
  • Coursework or project experience with FEA tools (ANSYS, NASTRAN, etc.).
  • Knowledge of PDM systems (Enovia, Windchill).

At XTI Aerospace, we are driven by innovation and the desire to reshape the future of air mobility. If you are passionate about cutting-edge aerospace technology and eager to make an impact on projects like the TriFan 600, we invite you to join our dynamic team.
