Do your Best Work in Mooresville

This position is based at our headquarters in Mooresville, North Carolina. Our corporate office is a space where you can collaborate and do your best work. Take a walk, grab a bite (or a cup of coffee), work out or get a check-up – we invest in you so you can find your inspiration.

Your Impact
The Sr. Manager, International Transportation leads Lowe's global inbound ocean and air transportation network, ensuring reliable capacity, service performance, and cost optimization for imports into North America. This role owns carrier strategy, contract negotiations, capacity allocation, and performance governance across a complex global network of origin ports, North American gateways, and distribution centers. With accountability for approximately $900M in annual spend and 150,000+ annual import containers, the position directly influences landed cost, on-time performance, and network resilience. Operating in a highly volatile global trade environment, the role establishes policies and decision frameworks to manage cost, capacity, service, and compliance risks. The Sr. Manager leads a global transportation team and partners cross-functionally to drive end-to-end network alignment and continuous improvement.
What You Will Do
  • Own global inbound ocean and air carrier strategy, including network design, capacity procurement, and allocation
  • Negotiate carrier contracts and service level agreements to optimize cost, capacity, and service performance
  • Establish and govern KPIs for international transportation, driving accountability for cost, capacity utilization, and on-time delivery
  • Manage capacity balancing across East Coast and West Coast gateways, flexing routings and service strings to meet demand
  • Oversee international transportation execution across a diverse import portfolio, including GDSM, hazardous materials, and heavyweight freight
  • Drive landed cost improvement initiatives through optimization of routing, carrier mix, and asset utilization
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate transportation risk related to labor actions, geopolitical events, trade policy, and port congestion
  • Partner closely with Origin Cargo Management, customs, and North American landside operations to ensure end-to-end network alignment
  • Lead Mexico cross-border import transportation strategy and execution
  • Own the international transportation technology roadmap, identifying scalability needs and systemic risk
  • Conduct market intelligence and monitor global transportation trends impacting cost, capacity, and network resilience
  • Build and maintain senior-level relationships with ocean carriers and port operators
  • Lead, develop, and retain a high-performing international transportation team
  • Advance sustainability initiatives to reduce empty miles, improve asset utilization, and lower emissions

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field or equivalent years of experience in lieu of education requirement, if applicable
  • 8+ years of experience in international transportation, logistics, or supply chain management
  • 6+ years of proven experience managing large-scale global inbound ocean and air transportation networks
  • 3+ years of people leadership experience with direct reports
  • Demonstrated success in carrier strategy development, contract negotiation, and capacity procurement
  • Experience managing transportation networks across multiple global origin regions and U.S. port gateways
  • Strong background in KPI development, carrier performance management, and cost optimization
  • Experience managing complex freight profiles, including hazardous materials and heavyweight cargo
