Job description

Position Overview

We are recruiting a highly motivated HVAC/Refrigeration Designer to support the design, implementation, and optimization of mechanical systems within industrial manufacturing environments. This role will be responsible for designing facility heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and industrial refrigeration systems, integrating mechanical equipment for production facilities.

The ideal candidate will have experience with industrial HVAC/R system design, load calculations, ductwork and piping layout, equipment selection, process cooling, and compliance with industry standards for manufacturing facilities.

Key Responsibilities

HVAC & Refrigeration System Design

•Design HVAC and industrial refrigeration systems for manufacturing facilities including equipment such as chillers, boilers, cooling towers, air handling units, and exhaust systems

•Perform heating and cooling load calculations, energy modeling, and airflow distribution analysis

•Develop ductwork and piping layouts, system Flow diagrams, and mechanical specifications

•Support equipment selection including air handlers, split systems, Chillers, pumps, fans.

•Ensure mechanical designs comply with ASHRAE, SMACNA, IMC, IIAR, and applicable industry standards

Equipment Integration & Coordination

•Support integration of heating, cooling, ventilation, and environmental control systems

•Coordinate mechanical interfaces with structural, architectural, electrical, controls, and process engineering teams

•Assist in development of piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).

•Collaborate with equipment vendors and mechanical contractors to ensure proper system functionality

Commissioning & Startup Support

•Support commissioning of HVAC and refrigeration systems during factory startup

•Support resolution of mechanical issues during startup and production ramp up

Required Qualifications

•Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

•3 to 10+ years of experience in industrial HVAC and refrigeration design

•Experience with industrial process HVAC/R systems.

•Strong understanding of chillers, boilers, cooling towers, air handlers, and hydronic systems

•Experience with mechanical system load calculations and equipment sizing

•Familiarity with ASHRAE standards and International Mechanical Code (IMC)

•Ability to read and develop mechanical schematics, P&IDs, and ductwork layouts

Preferred Qualifications

•Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT, or intent to acquire

•Experience with HVAC design software such as Carrier HAP or Trane TRACE

•Experience with AutoCAD MEP or Revit

•Experience working in manufacturing, EPC, or mechanical consulting environments

•Familiarity with industrial refrigeration standards (e.g., IIAR, ASHRAE 15)
