Job description

Role - Air Mobility Operations / 618 AOC & AFFOR Staff Subject Matter Expert (SME) Location - Scott Air Force Base, Illinois Salary - $100-$120K Yearly Work Schedule Primarily onsite at Air Mobility Command (AMC) Headquarters with limited telework based on mission requirements. Position Summary Client is seeking an Air Mobility Operations / 618 AOC & AFFOR Staff Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a multi-disciplinary action research team working with the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and Air Mobility Command (AMC). This position supports transformation initiatives at AMC Headquarters and contributes to complex organizational research efforts.

The selected candidate will apply extensive operational and staff expertise to ensure research outcomes and innovative solutions remain aligned with current Department of Defense (DoD) and United States Air Force (USAF) doctrine, concepts, and tactics. The role requires daily collaboration with senior government civilian and military leaders, contractor teammates, and C5T personnel. Work will primarily be performed within government facilities at Scott Air Force Base, with occasional work at company offices and limited telework opportunities based on mission needs.

Key Responsibilities Provide subject matter expertise on AMC operational constructs and 618 AOC processes. Advise on MAJCOM Headquarters operations and AFFOR staff integration. * Evaluate staff coordination mechanisms and recommend practical process improvements.

Support implementation of organizational and operational enhancements. Translate operational challenges into actionable recommendations for senior leadership. * Support enterprise-level modernization and organizational transformation initiatives.

Collect, analyze, and interpret qualitative and quantitative data. Participate in research project planning, design, and execution. * Support project management activities as required.

Develop and deliver executive-level briefings, reports, and presentations. Ensure compliance with security, documentation, and reporting requirements. * Maintain current knowledge of DoD, USAF, and AMC doctrine, policies, and operational guidance.

Required Qualifications Minimum 10 years of uniformed experience supporting airlift, air refueling, or global mobility operations. Minimum 2 years of experience serving on a MAJCOM-level staff or within the 618 Air Operations Center (AOC). * Strong understanding of AFFOR staff functions and AMC Headquarters processes.

Completion of Intermediate Developmental Education (IDE) or Senior Developmental Education (SDE). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Demonstrated ability to effectively engage and influence senior military and civilian leaders.

Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance. Desired Qualifications Experience supporting AFFOR staff processes within Air Mobility Command. * Current or recent AMC Headquarters experience, particularly within the A3 Directorate.

Project Management Professional (PMP) training and/or certification. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training and/or certification. * Familiarity with AMC transformation and modernization initiatives.

Experience utilizing Palantir Foundry, particularly in support of Maven or Envision programs. Former Air Mobility aviators are strongly encouraged to apply
