Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on ultra-low temperature freezers (-80°C), cold rooms, and HVAC systems
  • Execute maintenance activities in compliance with GMP regulations and standard operating procedures (SOP)
  • Respond to emergency calls and equipment alarms to minimize downtime of critical equipment
  • Document all maintenance activities according to GMP requirements
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system issues across specialized equipment
  • Participate in validation activities for new and modified equipment
  • Support engineering projects related to facility infrastructure improvements
  • Maintain accurate records of parts inventory and coordinate procurement of supplies
  • Collaborate with facilities team, quality assurance, and other departments to ensure equipment reliability
  • Must be able to work with minimal to no supervision
  • Work overtime or temporarily modify shift schedule as needed
  • Be part of on-call after hours

Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical degree/certification in HVAC, Refrigeration, or related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience maintaining scientific or laboratory equipment, preferably in a GMP environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of refrigeration systems, particularly ultra-low temperature applications
  • Experience with building management systems (BMS) and environmental monitoring systems (EMS)
  • Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Understanding of GMP requirements and their application to equipment maintenance
  • Valid EPA certification for refrigerant handling preferred
  • Strong documentation skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladders, stepladders, and stairs as required during shift.
  • Ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis during shift.
  • Ability to walk extensively throughout the facility during shift.

Work Environment
  • Work is performed in a regulated GMP facility
  • May require working in temperature-controlled environments
  • Some emergency/on-call duties may be required
  • Safety protocols must be strictly followed when handling refrigerants and working with electrical systems
  • Have the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift.
