Job description

State Filings Analyst

We are seeking a State Filings Analyst to support regulatory product filings across multiple personal lines product lines. This role is responsible for preparing and submitting form, rate, and/or rule filings to state insurance departments and regulatory authorities through SERFF.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

The position plays a critical role in bringing new and revised personal lines insurance products to market while ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements. The analyst will collaborate closely with product development, actuarial, underwriting, legal, and external vendors to support the development, implementation, and maintenance of insurance products.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit form, rate and or rule filings with state insurance departments through SERFF and Florida's IRFS.

  • Compile and submit new and revised policy forms, riders, applications, endorsements, rates, and rules.

  • Prepare supporting filing documentation including explanatory memoranda, state-required checklists, certifications, and other supporting materials such as Flesch readability scores.

  • Review filings to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.

  • Monitor calendar of regulatory filings such as annual rate certifications, form list filings, regulatory data calls, and other mandated reporting requirements.

  • Research state statutes, regulations, and bulletins applicable to insurance filings.

  • Communicating with state insurance departments, including responding to objections.

  • Maintenance of all filed and non-filed forms (exempt) and rates product specifications, state variations and filing dispositions, etc. on SharePoint.

  • Assisting with special projects and other related duties as requested.

The role requires a solid understanding of insurance and regulatory requirements, statutes, and compliance standards along with experience supporting product development and implementation. Candidates should have experience in property and casualty, Accident & Health, Warranty or Personal Lines. The candidate should have experience communicating with regulators at the Departments of Insurance as well as with internal stakeholders such as underwriting, actuarial and legal. Strong organizational skills to effectively manage multiple filings simultaneously is a key component of the job.

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ plus years of experience in insurance product filings.

  • Familiarity with product filing systems including SERFF, IRFS,

  • Experience demonstrating the following capabilities:

  • Manage multiple product filings and competing priorities,

  • Monitor filing status on a regular basis,

  • Provide timely notification of objections and approvals,

  • Ensure responses to objections adequately address regulatory concerns

  • Effective communication with Departments of Insurance and internal business representatives

For positions based in Illinois, the base salary range is $62,000-$82,500. For positions based in Massachusetts, the base salary range is $76,000-$90,000. For positions based in New Jersey, the base salary range is $56,000-$89,000. In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
