Will AI replace program managers?

AI program managers oversee the integration of AI tools into project workflows, coordinate teams, and manage timelines. While AI can automate routine tasks and support decision-making, human oversight remains essential for strategic planning, stakeholder communication, and complex problem-solving. The role is evolving to include managing AI systems rather than being fully replaced by them.

Which 3 jobs will survive AI?

For an AI Program Manager, roles that require complex strategic decision-making, emotional intelligence, and creative problem-solving are likely to persist, such as executive leadership, specialized healthcare professionals, and creative roles like designers or writers. These jobs involve nuanced human judgment and interpersonal skills that AI currently cannot replicate fully. Continuous learning and adaptability are essential to stay relevant as AI advances.

To thrive as an AI Program Manager, you need expertise in project management, a strong understanding of AI concepts, and experience leading cross-functional teams, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with machine learning frameworks, cloud platforms, agile methodologies, and certifications such as PMP or Scrum Master are highly valuable. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills set standout professionals apart in this role. These abilities ensure projects are delivered on time, align with business goals, and effectively bridge the gap between technical and non-technical teams.

About the Role

We are looking for a Product Manager, Data Platform & AI Platform to define the strategy and drive delivery of next-generation data, analytics, and AI capabilities. This role sits at the intersection of platform engineering, customer-centric product management, and applied AI innovation, spanning two key domains: A data platform powering ingestion, streaming, integration, and analytics and a customer-facing AI platform enabling intelligent tools, workflows, and AI-assisted experiences. You'll own the vision, roadmap, and execution across both areas, working hands-on with engineering teams while shaping the future of AI-driven user experiences for our customers.

Responsibilities
  • Define and execute the product strategy and roadmap across data and AI platform domains
  • Own data platform capabilities including ingestion, streaming, transformation, integration, and analytics
  • Lead product direction for data quality, governance, security, observability, and scalability
  • Partner with engineering, architecture, and cross-functional teams to translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Own the vision and delivery of a customer-facing AI platform, including assistants, workflows, and intelligent tools
  • Translate customer needs into intuitive, scalable, and impactful AI-driven product experiences
  • Drive adoption of AI capabilities by gathering feedback, measuring usage, and iterating based on outcomes
  • Manage and prioritize product backlogs, write user stories, and support Agile delivery processes
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to inform product direction
  • Define success metrics and KPIs to guide decision-making and measure impact
  • Contribute to go-to-market planning and communicate product vision to stakeholders
  • Balance short-term delivery goals with long-term strategic platform investments

Requirements

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in product management or a similar role within a technical software environment
  • Strong understanding of data platforms (pipelines, streaming, integration, modeling, governance, and analytics)
  • Experience with modern cloud data ecosystems (Databricks and AWS preferred)
  • Familiarity with AI/ML product concepts, especially customer-facing applications like copilots or intelligent workflows
  • Proven ability to translate customer needs into product requirements, roadmaps, and deliverables
  • Hands-on experience managing backlogs and working closely with engineering teams in Agile environments
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities
  • Track record of delivering products or features end-to-end

We understand that experience comes in many forms and that careers are not always linear. If you don't meet every requirement in this posting, we still encourage you to apply.

At Tecsys, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace where all employees feel valued, respected, and empowered. We believe that diversity drives innovation and strengthens our ability to deliver exceptional solutions. We welcome and encourage applicants from all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives to join our team.

NB: if you are applying to this position, you must be a Canadian Citizen or a Permanent Resident of Canada, OR, have a valid Canadian work permit.

A Note on Our Hiring Process: We do not use AI to automatically screen or reject candidates. However, we do use specific screening questions to prioritize the most relevant applications for human review.
At Tecsys, we welcome the thoughtful use of AI tools to help you prepare your application, for example, to improve clarity, organize your resume, or practice interview responses. However, we ask that all information you provide reflects your real experience, and that any assessments or written submissions represent your own work and thinking.

During interviews, we expect candidates to engage without the use of AI tools, scripts, or real-time assistance. Authentic, direct conversation helps us get to know how you think, collaborate, and communicate. AI can support your preparation, but it shouldn't speak or act on your behalf. We genuinely want to meet you.
