Hybrid schedule:
  • Minimum 3 days/week onsite & out in the community (can vary)
  • Occasional night & weekend events

Job Summary :
The Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating programs and activities related to the Southwestern NJ AHEC. Collaborates with AHEC leadership and the AHEC Program Office to ensure an outstanding student experience. Maintains professional credentialing requirements for all programs.
Position Responsibilities:
Responsible for daily coordination of Area Health Education Center activities. Collaborates with leadership on planning, implementation and evaluation of experiential learning opportunities for students. Coordinates programs, activities, and schedules for AHEC students. Curate or host AHEC Scholar events/panels/to provide more in depth view of Southwestern AHEC services and communities served.
Provide significant support for third year medical students with all designated onsite experiences within the Virtua network and/or community.
Maintains professional credentialing requirements for all programs
Other duties as assigned by Virtua Health leadership and/or the AHEC Program Office
Position Qualifications Required :
Required Experience:
Minimum of 3 Years of experience with demonstrated interest in local food, community, social justice, public health and/or local economies and be motivated by the mission of providing valuable experiential learning opportunities and resources to future healthcare professionals.
Experience with or understanding of marginalized communities.
Must display ease and comfort with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions and demonstrate the ability to treat all people with equity and respect.
Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
Training / Certification / Licensure:
Valid NJ Driver license
Supports the facilitation and coordination of River AHEC programming and participates in required facilitator trainings and certifications, such as COPE, Mental Health First Aid, and other program-specific trainings necessary to deliver high-quality student and community engagement experiences.
Hourly Rate: $30.37 - $47.20 The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant's experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
