Job description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Oncology night shift position in Birmingham, AL, requiring a minimum of 2 years of recent med/surg experience and an active AL or compact RN license.
Job Details
• Work on a 41-bed Med/Surg unit (5 West) within a hospital setting,
• Patient population includes med/surg, oncology, neuro, and palliative care patients,
• Patient ratio of 6:1,
• Night shift: 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM,
• Every third weekend required,
• Floating required as needed,
• No on-call requirements,
• Alaris IV pumps used on the unit,
• EMR: Epic (experience required),
Job Requirements
• Active AL or compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration,
• Current BLS certification required (AHA accepted only; American Red Cross not accepted),
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required (AHA only),
• Minimum 2 years of recent med/surg experience required,
• Proficient in patient assessment, IV insertion, Foley insertion, and NGT placement,
• SSN and DOB required for consideration,
Additional Information
• 13-week contract,
• Provides nursing care to a diverse patient population including oncology, neurological, and palliative care patients,
• Med/surg background is the preferred skillset for this role,
• Navy scrubs required; fleece is not permitted,
• Candidates should demonstrate commitment, curiosity, strong communication, and connection with patients and team members,
• The facility is a Joint Commission-accredited hospital recognized for stroke care, cardiovascular services, rehabilitation, bariatrics, and surgical care
