Job description

Who we are

With its A.I.-powered robotic technology platform, Symbotic is changing the way consumer goods move through the supply chain. Intelligent software orchestrates advanced robots in a high-density, end-to-end system - reinventing warehouse automation for increased efficiency, speed and flexibility.

What we need

We are looking for a Robotics Field Engineering to join our Mobile Robots Engineering team within our Core Engineering org. Your job will be to provide engineering support for mobile robots at customer sites.

What we do

At the forefront of technological innovation in robotics and automation, our Hardware Engineering team is dedicated to developing cutting-edge solutions that revolutionize industrial applications. We blend advanced robotics with automation to design systems that are not only innovative but also robust and scalable, capable of operating efficiently across various industrial settings. Our work encompasses a broad spectrum of activities including mechanical design, electrical engineering, and software integration, ensuring that every product we develop meets the highest standards of quality and performance. We are a dynamic group of professionals committed to pushing the boundaries of what's possible in hardware engineering, driving forward our mission to lead and transform the industry.

What you'll do

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in real-time, utilizing expertise in mechatronics, embedded systems, and sensor integration. Provide technical guidance to maintenance teams for system diagnostics and component-level repairs.

  • Oversee the development and execution of detailed test plans, including setting milestones and defining requirements for advanced tools, instrumentation, and capital equipment necessary for robotics system validation and field performance assessments.

  • Coordinate engineering campaigns for field upgrades, focusing on hardware and software enhancements to improve robotic system reliability, autonomy, and operational efficiency.

  • Collaborate with engineering design teams to develop and refine system architecture, leveraging expertise in kinematics, real-time control algorithms, and AI-based decision-making systems.

  • Act as the primary technical liaison between stakeholders, including senior leadership, R&D teams, and external partners. Provide detailed updates on system diagnostics, root cause analyses, and potential technical fixes.

  • Partner closely with internal engineering teams, including systems engineers and robotics software developers, as well as external operations and maintenance teams, ensuring seamless integration and performance optimization of deployed robotics systems.

  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration with engineering development teams, offering data-driven insights to inform design decisions and enhance the next generation of robotics technologies.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in a robotics or engineering field or equivalent professional experience.

  • Experience in providing engineering services on site with complex robotic, automotive, or electromechanical systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electrical/mechanical/software systems to identify root cause of issues.

  • Hands on experience designing complex robotic / electromechanical systems.

  • Experience with drivetrain systems, PCBAs, and other electromechanical components and systems.

  • Ability to travel up to 20%.

Our environment
