Robotics Deployment Engineer information

What is a robotics deployment engineer?

Robotics Deployment Engineers are professionals who specialize in installing, integrating, and configuring robotic systems in real-world settings. They work closely with clients to ensure robots are properly set up, tested, and optimized for specific operational needs. Their responsibilities often include troubleshooting hardware and software issues, providing on-site support, and training staff on using robotic equipment. These engineers play a critical role in making sure robotics technology transitions smoothly from the lab or factory to its intended application environment.

What are some typical challenges faced by robotics deployment engineers during on-site installations?

Robotics Deployment Engineers often encounter challenges such as adapting to varying facility layouts, integrating new robotic systems with existing infrastructure, and troubleshooting unexpected hardware or software issues during deployment. Communication and collaboration with local IT, operations, and maintenance teams are key to overcoming these obstacles, as each site may present unique requirements or constraints. Being flexible and solution-oriented is essential, as timelines can be tight and successful deployment often hinges on quickly resolving integration and performance concerns.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a robotics deployment engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Robotics Deployment Engineer, you need a strong background in robotics, mechanical or electrical engineering, and experience with system integration, often supported by a relevant engineering degree. Familiarity with programming languages (such as Python or C++), robotics middleware (like ROS), and hands-on experience with automation hardware and control systems are typically essential. Problem-solving, adaptability, and excellent communication skills help you coordinate with cross-functional teams and address client needs effectively. These skills ensure successful on-site deployment, troubleshooting, and optimization of robotic systems in diverse environments.

Job description

Here at Humanoid, we believe in a future where robots amplify human potential. That's why we've set out on a mission to build the world's most capable, commercially-scalable, and safe humanoid robots. We're bringing that mission to life with HMND‑01 Alpha - our rapidly developed humanoid platform now running in real industrial pilots - and we're growing the team to take it even further.
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Product Deployment Engineer to support the deployment and integration of our humanoid robot solutions at customer facilities in North America. The role involves on-site visits to customer facilities, data collection, lab-based simulations, executing high-quality demos, conducting in-lab and in-field testing and supporting on-site solution integration. This position requires technical expertise, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a customer-centric approach.
What You'll Do
  • Support the deployment and implementation of humanoid robot solutions at customer locations.
  • Conduct visits to customer facilities to gather data, assess requirements to ensure successful integration of robotic solutions.
  • Build physical twins, test rigs and test environments in our lab for reliability, performance and acceptance testing.
  • Organise and conduct product demonstrations in the lab for customers, investors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Represent the company at expos and industry events, delivering live product demos.
  • Test different product releases, ensuring timely delivery to customer sites.
  • Support solution integration in customer facilities, ensuring seamless operation.
  • Plan, organise, and supervise on-site Proof of Concept (PoC) and pilot projects, both short and long-term.
  • Collect and analyse product data and customer feedback; to improve product performance and deployment efficiency.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks on robotic systems, including troubleshooting with remote engineering support.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product development, and customer support teams to optimize deployment strategies.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field) or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Experience with robotic solutions, automation systems, or related technologies.
  • Hands-on skills in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, assembly, and maintenance.
  • Experience managing robotics or automation concept/pilot projects and deployment processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently, under pressure.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills to coordinate with internal teams and customers.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to dynamic environments.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with customers, including senior stakeholders and operations staff.
  • Willingness to travel for short-to long-term assignments at customer and partner facilities across North America with occasional travel to Humanoid HQ and other locations in Europe. Approx 40% travel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in warehouse/logistics automation, industrial robotics or humanoid robotics deployment.
  • Familiarity with software integration and sensor-based automation.
  • Experience with CAD modeling, 3D scanning, or digital twin technology.
  • Experience with commissioning or acceptance testing
  • Experience with automation business case development.
  • Experience working in complex operational environments
  • Ability to deliver engaging presentations and live demonstrations to diverse audiences.
What We Offer
  • Comprehensive health coverage for US‑based employees, including fully paid medical, dental, and vision insurance, with virtual care and employee assistance resources.
  • Meaningful time off to rest and recharge: 23 days of PTO (accrued), separate sick leave, and paid company holidays.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with 4% employer match.
  • Competitive equity: stock options with meaningful upside as we scale.
  • Free daily catered lunch, snacks, and drinks in‑office.
  • Collaboration with top‑tier engineers, researchers, and product experts in AI and robotics.
  • Freedom to influence the product and own key initiatives.
For this role in Massachusetts, the expected base salary range is $100K-$130K USD per year; your placement in that range depends on how your experience maps to our internal leveling.
