Job description

Description

Advantage Flood MGA, a subsidiary of Taurus, LLC, is a Tampa-based managing general agent specializing in flood insurance - one of the fastest-growing and most underserved segments of the P&C market. We operate the Odyssey platform, partnering with WYO carriers and independent agents nationwide to deliver NFIP and private flood solutions. We move fast, think big, and are building the distribution infrastructure to compete with the best in the space. If you want to own something meaningful in an industry on the rise, this is your seat. We're looking for a high-energy, relationship-driven Agency Development Director to build and scale our independent agent network across the United States. This role is the engine behind our growth - you'll be the face of Advantage Flood to agency partners, responsible for activating new producers, deepening existing relationships, and driving written premium through channel distribution. You'll work from our Tampa headquarters and collaborate directly with senior leadership, marketing, and operations to execute a national agency strategy.

THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF...

You're a relationship builder who doesn't wait for opportunities-you create them. You're comfortable prospecting, meeting with agents, and building long-term partnerships based on trust and consistency. You can manage dozens of agency relationships, thrive in a competitive environment, and leave a lasting impression after every conversation. You understand underwriting, can navigate carrier systems, and know how to deliver a confident, compelling pitch that gets results.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Prospect, recruit, and onboard independent insurance agencies and agents across key markets nationwide

Build and manage relationships with agency networks and aggregators (SIAA, Keystone, ISU, and similar groups)

Develop and execute a structured agency development plan aligned to premium and activation goals

Serve as the primary point of contact for agency partners - training, enabling, and supporting their flood book growth

Collaborate with marketing to create agent-facing tools, campaigns, and co-branded materials

Represent Advantage Flood at industry trade shows, conferences, and regional events

Maintain a CRM pipeline with accurate forecasting and activity reporting

Work cross-functionally with carrier partners and WYO contacts to support agent placement and compliance

Stay current on NFIP policy changes, Risk Rating 2.0 developments, and private flood market trends

Feed field intelligence back to leadership to sharpen product positioning and competitive strategy

Requirements

Required:

3+ years of experience in insurance sales, agency distribution, business development, or agency services

Demonstrated track record of building or growing agency/producer relationships at scale

Strong familiarity with carrier operations, agency management, and insurance distribution channels

Marketing and business development acumen - you can articulate value, create momentum, and close partnerships

Exceptional interpersonal skills - warm, professional, and energetic with both rookies and veteran agents

Comfortable with CRM tools, sales reporting, and pipeline management

Willing to travel periodically for agency visits, trade shows, and industry events

Must be based in or willing to relocate to Tampa, FL for in-office work

Preferred / Bonus Points:

Florida 2-20 General Lines License (or equivalent in your resident state)

Previous experience as a licensed insurance sales agent or producer

Flood insurance knowledge: NFIP, private flood markets, Risk Rating 2.0

Experience with MGA, wholesaler, or carrier distribution platforms

Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or a related field
