Position: General Education Paraprofessional
Location: Centennial Elementary
Start Date: August 31, 2026
Hours: 2.5 hours/day - 11:00 am to 1:30 pm
General Education Paraprofessionals work closely with certified teachers within regular classrooms to support student learning, safety, and engagement. This position focuses entirely on assisting the general student population and maintaining a positive, orderly school environment. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, follows directions well, and communicates effectively.
Responsibilities MAY include, but are not limited to:
  • Reinforce daily lessons under the guidance of the classroom teacher. Work with individual students or lead small breakout groups to clarify tasks, guide practice, and keep students focused.
  • Actively supervise students during non-academic times. Enforce safety rules on the playground, monitor behavior in the cafeteria, and assist students to ensure an orderly, safe, and positive environment.
  • Monitor school corridors during morning arrival, afternoon dismissal, and class transitions. Ensure students move safely between areas and maintain appropriate behavior in the hallways.
  • Help the lead teacher prepare learning materials, set up activities, organize supplies, and address minor student distractions to keep the classroom running smoothly.
  • Participating in required professional development, training, and meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • All Centennial paraprofessionals may be assigned to other positions as determined by the district.

QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma required.
Demonstrated aptitude and competence for assigned responsibilities.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Must be highly qualified:
1. Have at least two years of college credits (usually 60 credits if earned in Minnesota) through an accredited institution of higher education; or
2. Hold an associate's degree or higher; or
3. Have a passing score on an approved, formal assessment (ParaPro or Paraeducator Assessment)
WAGES:
Ranging $21.07 - $22.63 per hour, dependent on experience
